Coffee breakfast "shake" drink-suggestions needed

(Stephanie) #1

My SO will eat Keto with me for the majority, however he has a need for caffeine a few times a week and prefers it in the form of Fruit Punch Rock Stars. Seriously he is addicted to them, but that is another story. He is NOT a coffee drinker at all, but I am wondering if I could mix a bit (double espresso) of strong coffee into a low carb protein shake. Kill 2 birds with one stone, he gets his caffeine and eating on track. Is there keto protein drinks that anyone suggests?

Just find a vanilla or chocolate protein powder that is low in carbohydrates (and other added nonsense/chemicals), and make it as normal. Add the shots of espresso. I think that vanilla will work best. With it being low in carbohydrates it is ketogenic, but he can also add butter/ghee/coconut oil/etc. to make it like a protein bulletproof coffee/rocket fuel latte.

The linked protein is good, others use Quest and Isopure as well.

I wish I liked coffee… this sounds amazing!

I’m a fan of Muscle Infusion Black by Nutrex. The chocolate and vanilla flavors are on-point. It’s pretty damn low-carb (no sugar), and compared to competition, is cheap.

Rockstar makes several zero carb drinks. Before cutting caffeine, I was “addicted”.

Sometimes he’ll drink those. They are so full of chemicals though, I’d prefer to figure out a way to get him off altogether. I got a 4 pack of muscle milk and some coffee concentrate. Didn’t want to invest too much in something if it’s a no go. Also wanted to wait until the weekend to try in case the coffee or shake had weird effect on his stomach. A while back a spinach smoothie… smoothed it’s easy through his system I guess you could say. He’s a little leery of me handing him a blender bottle on the way out the door.
