Coconut oil alternative

It is coconut oil BUT it is refined to only contain MCT oil, which is why it stays liquid. The lauric acid is removed.

I like duck fat, and I use KetoMct oil. I have not had any issues with GI problems using this oil.

I see that on the label now -Lauric acid is desirable, right? Does this make it the same as other MCT oils? The ones marketed specifically as MCT?

Yes, actually it is.[quote=“Lueloff, post:23, topic:2281”]

Yes. It is a Medium Chain Triglyceride oil now.

It is actually pretty easy to find more info on this online. Apparently the lauric acid was removed to keep the coconut oil liquid, then manufacturers found a health product to market. (figures)
You can just eat coconut oil!

Lard is my #1 choice, by far. Beef tallow is also wonderful for sauteing. When I simmer a chuck roast, beef shank, or even soup bones, after separating the meat out of the juices, I refrigerate the broth. The tallow will rise to the the top and form a hard layer that can easily be removed for sauteing.
Coconut oil doesn’t agree with me. I have tried it several times. I guess some of us aren’t meant to live in the tropics.

Algae oil is good, too. No taste, high smoke point, and very good nutrient levels. I get mine from Amazon. I also use avocado oil.

I am allergic to coconut! Even as a small child I would break out in a rash if eaten. What is another option when so many Keto recipes call for it??

(bulkbiker) #28

I’ve never used coconut in any recipe since going keto. Are you talking about “keto baking” (a bit of an oxymoron in my view) where you try to make fake processed foods?
In which case the answer is simple … don’t make them.

Butter or ghee. I use them all interchangeably.
