I have noticed that a lot of folks here like Coconut Bai so I picked one up the other day. Is it purely for the taste or is there any actual benefit to drinking it? I know it says it is infused with antioxidants, but I’m always a little skeptical when I read that on products. Do you feel any difference when you drink it? Do you use it when fasting? Does the sweet taste spike any cravings?
Coconut Bai?
For me, it’s just an alternative to water. Am finding it hard to stay hydrated with plain water and seem to need something with a bit of flavor to be able to drink enough fluids. Can’t have Bai too often and have to dilute as it’s too sweet. And, yes the extra sweetness spikes cravings.
I haven’t had any of their drinks since going Keto, but prior to, it was a nice caffeinated alternative to soda. It does have Erythritol in at least some flavors which I have a reaction to so I avoid it now.
I personally like the zero carb unsweetened essential oil infused carbonated water drinks, like Crystal Geyser or LaCroix. But I don’t drink them often, and with my new sensitivity to sweet flavors it’s almost like drinking a soda. Lime is my favorite. I occasionally do a Diet Coke when I eat in a restaurant. I have tried ICE, but not Bai.
I love good pure cold water best!
I use a filter pitcher, California water isn’t like what you get most likely. Unless yours tastes like a dirty swimming pool too!
Hehe, no our tap water is clear and delicious. When I lived outside of Chicago, in a little town for almost 5 months, the tap water was only usable if you boiled it first. I had to use that water to shower and never felt really clean. I bought large gallons of bottled water (I was fortunate to have a ride from a friend for shopping once a week so I didn’t have to carry it on a bus or anything.
This was many years ago, (over 30) so I am sure that they have improved it by now =).
At first it caused mild digestive issues (probably my body’s way of saying don’t have this again - which I dismissed), that was having it in Bai drinks, rarely. When I made a Keto cookie dough recipe that called for Swerve (Stevia/Erythritol blend), I developed a super itchy face and mouth - I had eaten 1 small spoon. In total denial, next day ate a couple spoons and throat became very itchy and started to swell. After seeking medical help, was told it could have been a cross allergy from whatever plant the Erythritol was grown on (apparently corn is popular…). I have had Stevia prior to Keto and now tasted the pure drops twice and no issues, no other new ingredients in the cookie dough I made, so as positive as possible it was the Erythritol. After returning home from doc visit, found info online about others experiencing similar symptoms after ingesting Erythritol.
I find that adding some crushed mint leaves or a tiny bit of citrus juice, lemon or lime, makes plain water tasty. I was into Lecroix but found I got hungry after having it, so I just went back to coffee, tea, water w or w/out the mint or citrus works best for me. I also enjoy wine a couple of days a week. That is my beverage list.
I like tap water too @Momof5. My husband and kids only drink the filtered water from the fridge and he’s installed a filter on our boiling water faucet, but he comes from a place with pretty terrible tap water. I’ve always lived here, in a place fortunate enough to have crisp, clean tap water. It’s so darn good!
This is always a hit and miss for me
Bai Drinks…I will drink just half at a time occasionally
Carb conscious
Good flavor though
Maybe worth a try for you?
These have Stevia
So good!!
All flavors I enjoy
I’ll have to look for those. Thanks! I don’t think my Wegmans carries them, but the natural foods store might. (It is the only place in town that has Rebel ice cream too.) I don’t mind plain water most of the time, but I like a little variety now and again. I did have some coconut bai. I couldn’t drink too much – maybe a third of the bottle. It was quite sweet. That surprised me for some reason.
