Chocolate Nutella hazelnut spread
Still 17g of carbs per 2 tbsp. Damn, and I thought my prayers had been answered.
Look up Carl’s Chocolate Mousse in “Recipes”. That’ll do ya.
I’m not wild on the oils in this product. It is actually pretty easy to make yourself with fat, nuts and chocolate. There is a recipe here that looks good but I haven’t tried it. I would probably toast hazelnuts and then mix with coconut oil, butter and chocolate - sweetener to taste. Or even just melted chocolate and nut butter.
That’s total carbs - you have to take out fibre and eryithritol (16 grams) from the total so it only has 1 gram per serving - fibre has no impact on insulin and eryithritol has an almost zero insulin response - this means the 16 grams basically pass through your body
If I ever have time, I’ll try making it - but for now, with 3 young kids, I’m lucky to have time for sleep so I’m most interested in keto products with good sweeteners I can buy
Thanks for the pointer on the recipe though
I can’t keep Nutilight in my house. Once it’s here I keep picking away at it. Weird thing is, it doesn’t really taste like Nutella, and it’s really not that good, but I become addicted once starting to eat it.
Interesting! Wonder what these would be like with oat fiber instead of oats?
Ingredients:
2⅔ cups quick-cooking oats
1½ cups of Nutilight
¼ teaspoon fine salt
⅓ cup natural cocoa powder
Directions:
Grind 2 cups of the oats in a food processor into a fine powder. Add the Nutilight and salt and process until a smooth mixture forms. Add the remaining ⅔ cup of oats and pulse to combine.
Roll level tablespoons of the dough into balls. Roll in the cocoa to coat. Repeat to coat evenly. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour and up to 5 days.
I used to be like that with Nutella though - didn’t even like it much but had eaten half the jar and felt sick before I knew it! The other thing you can get here is something I called biscuit butter - it is Speculoos biscuits sort of mushed up with some dreadful oil and sugar. I imagine it would send me into a coma now but I used to love it although I also ate it till I felt sick!
