Chicken Bone Broth...indigestion?

(Andrea) #1

I made some chicken stock from roasted chicken carcasses in the pressure cooker tonight (45mins). Nothing else in it other that salt. But here I am hours later still burping it. Why? Anyone any ideas? I’ve eaten since having it, but not much, just some steak and eggs. But it makes me not want to eat anything else. Why am I still burping it 6 hrs after having chicken broth???

Thanks

Maybe because they were roasted? I don’t know, I have never heard that. Running the batch for 45 minutes will make a soup stock. For bone broth you want to let it go two hours in a pressure cooker. Also a tablespoon or two of vinegar will help leach more minerals if you didn’t add any. Maybe something was up in your stomach before drinking the broth, it’s generally easy to handle without stomach issues. Many use it to break an extended fast for that reason. :cowboy_hat_face:

Had some issues with eggs before… Are you sure it’s the chicken broth.? It seems less likely

Probably a coincidence, but when I made my own bone broth before, I was fine until I made eggs in the broth and ate it…oh boy did I feel sick. Something about the combination did not sit well…

Also next time add an oz or two of vinegar before cooking it. The acidity helps extract minerals that you want in the bone broth.

I drink chicken bone broth when I break fasts weekly and don’t have this problem.
