Chia seeds or menstruation?

#1

Hi, I cheated last week and it took me quite a few days to get back into ketosis, anyhow, I have been quite strict, only having between 14-19 net carbs a day. I managed to get back into ketosis but then this morning my period arrived and now I’m out of ketosis again! The only thing I did different was to have a chia seed pudding made with almond milk.

Is possible that my period kicked me out of ketosis or was there too much fibre in the chia seeds for me…or a combination of both?

Xx

How do you know that you are out of ketosis?

I would say possible. Seeds and nuts are sometimes enough to kick me out (tested by blood) and I can’t have any beans. I always find a teaspoon of MCT oil helps to get me back on track.

I’ve been using a breathalyser which usually registers .05 and combined with ketostix which usually show small to moderate amounts of ketones. I know ketostix aren’t as reliable the further into Keto you get and I had noticed that even when my breathalyser was registering .05 my ketostix levels dropped from moderate to small amounts, which I know is normal.

I used the breathalyser last night and it was showing I was in ketosis and this morning before breakfast it was the same. Then before lunch I tested again and it was reading 0.

Thanks, I’ll try that. I’ll just carry on as normal.

Just interested to see if anyone else has had the same experience regarding menstruation and/or chia seeds.
