Cheese on Keto

(Donna) #1

I have been consuming 1 ounce of hard cheddar cheese daily. Does anyone on Keto eat more then an ounce and how much is ok in a day? I tend to put it in my salad each day, but would love to eat it alone too, at times.

I eat enough to stop up an elephant. Cheese in scrambled eggs, salad, cauliflower macaroni and cheese, etc.

Some people have noticed that cheese isn’t as good for them and can cause a slow down on fat loss or some inflammation.

I guess I could go up some in cheese and see how it works for me. Eating 1 ounce is just not enough. I’m like you and many others, who love cheese.

Upping the cheese shouldn’t be an issue :slightly_smiling_face:
You’ll just need to experiment to find what works for you, while maintaining ketosis.

Ok, thanks!

Food for thought

They use some starch to keep pre shredded packaged cheeses from clumping. But I use them anyway. Sneaky carbs.

I personally try to find the ones that use potato starch and not corn starch, as I think corn starch is worse for me.

Dr Eric Westman on Page 4 recommends to limit cheese to 4oz per day!
Works for me

I did just read an article about that. If I ever buy shred or grated, I always buy the expensive refrigerated block cheese and grate meself. Can’t say I never have used bag shred in the past, though.

I agree! That’s a perfect amount. I weighed 2 oz for my salad today and it was just enough to satisfy me. It was avery sharp cheddar, so I can’t eat much more then that in one meal. Other cheeses like colby or mixed flavors, I could eat in larger servings. I will probably have another ounce or two tonight.

I’m a cheesy girl! :yum:

I get ya! Cheese can be addicitve. My ex use to say, why do all your casseroles have to have all this cheese in them.? He wasn’t a huge cheese guy. I told him I can’t help it. I am just drawn to those kinds of recipes, when on Pinterest.

(Bob M) #13

I personally don’t think cheese is addictive, if I eat it by itself. I can eat some cheese and have zero inclination to eat more. Can I overeat cheese? I think so, when cheese is used to flavor a meal. A lot of keto dishes use a lot of cheese, and that’s where it’s easy to overeat.

(Donna) #14

I think that is kind of like me in a way. The one thing that I had to get over from missing so much, was real pasta casseroles with cheese in them.

:astonished: My only limit is to stop when I’m full! I’m exceptionally fond of cheese…

Buttered cheese makes a good snack. Yum! :cheese:

Also cheese wrapped in bacon, and bacon wrapped in cheese. :bacon:

(Donna) #17

I’m getting hungry and I have consumed all my calories already. LOL

Bacon is medicine. It has no calories! :bacon::bacon:

I love bacon too, but in the past I have been so crazy, that I could almost eat a whole pack at once. Crazy I know, but it’s like a chip. Once you eat one strip, you can’t stop. Well sort of.

(Don’t tell anyone, but sometimes I drink the bacon juice, after it’s cooled sufficiently. Shh!)
