Has anyone else noticed this in recent years?
I remember buying brisket and pork belly a few years ago about half the cost of what it is now. Can we blame the reality cooking shows this?

Oh yeah Beef cheeks and Lamb shanks used to be cheap … now they are foodie cuts
The price of brisket is all over the place. Not sure if you’re in the US but Gordon Food Service has the best price I’ve found. They also have the cheapest pork butts. Good quality meat, too.
I’m in Thailand at the moment and I’m loving going to buy meat and unlike most western countries they have every part of the animal available and the price isn’t to bad either.
Lots of the BBQ shows got really popular and those cuts have gone up a lot. Pork shoulder is up 30% again this year, brisket has stayed steady but it was already high. Skirt steak was dirt cheap, now I can get porterhouse and ribeye for less. Tri tip has been gaining popularity but it is filet mignon price around here.
I can get good pork shoulder and brisket at Sam’s but their ribs are garbage, still haven’t found a consistent supply of them.
