It’s an interesting possibility. The problem with words like “may” in the titles of articles like this one, however, is that this is an observation from an epidemiological study, with all the ambiguities such studies pose. We won’t know for sure what’s really going on until some randomised controlled studies have been done.
On the other hand, this provides an opportunity to prescribe more drugs, which is progress for the statin manufacturers.
