Cary's Sugar Free Syrup - Yay or Nay Because of Sucralose?

#1

I just made some almond flour pancakes and put a little of this syrup on top. I noticed that it contains Sucralose, which I’ve read negative things about in regard to keto.

Is ANY amount of Sucralose too much, and I shouldn’t use any of this syrup? Is a small / moderate amount OK?

Thanks!

I have no issues with Sucralose but we are all different. Only way you’ll know is to try it and see.

It’s been my goto Syrup for years! I’ve never seen anybody have issue with Sucralose minus the people that just hate ALL artificial sweeteners.

I just did a sweetner free week. No difference other than how disappointing my morning tea was.

I use pure sucralose powder - not bulked up Splenda. I generally use it sparingly and have had no problems that I am aware of.

Some folks avoid it, but if it doesn’t cause you an insulin response, it’s one of the less objectionable IMHO. NOT in Splenda (except the “zero” variety), because that also contains maltodextrin.

Sucralose has a glycemic index up to 80. That’s not the same for everyone but it does happen in some people. I would avoid it at all costs. Use stevia instead, it has a zero glycemic index.
I hope this was helpful
Keep calm and keto on

Stevia isn’t always a good option, it kicks me out of ketosis completely (confirmed by blood testing) but I have no issues with erythritol or sucralose. Sweeteners are always a very personal thing.

Generally good advice but I think the wrinkle here is that there doesn’t seem to be a good (cost effective) “fa-ple” syrup made with stevia.

If you really must have those pork rind waffles or pancakes, you really need syrup… and butter… and a side of bacon… and… :yum:
