ABSOLUTELY PERFECT! This is going in my arsenal.
Carrying the Message
Another artist at the studios asked how I lost weight. I’m getting better, I hope, at distilling the ideas verbally. Now I also emphasize that it’s a lifestyle change not a diet for weightloss. I say, “If you have these health issues, if you like these kinds of foods, this may be the right way of eating for you.” She remained interested & asked for references so I gave her a list of books, websites, and podcasts. She seemed receptive to a lifestyle reboot so I hope she tries it & likes it.
Also I have my 2002 wedding picture on my phone where I’m 95 lbs heavier (just before starting Atkins) & I show it to folks who have only known me more recently 45 pounds heavier than I am now because I think it’s a more dramatic transformation & shows low carb is a sustainable long term solution to metabolic syndrome.
He loves his instant mashed potatoes. If there are leftovers, of course they are chilled before reheating. We like to keep the restless natives calm around here.
I don’t know if it holds for instant mashed potatoes (OMG! The man is … ), but if he’ll let you, make up a batch and chill it and have him reheat. Chilling potatoes and rice turns part of the starch into resistant starch, which is a prebiotic that feeds your lower intestinal tract(as well as causing less BG impact).
“We like to keep the restless natives calm around here.”
I can sympathize with that!
One of my friends listened to me and started cutting her carbs. Said she had lettuce wrap tacos with all the fixings. She is grossly overweight but is on her way. High five.
It has been almost a year since this post. I continue to Carry the Message. Our Senior VP joined in late last year. I have written two articles for our corporate newspaper. I have begun working the message in at our local Anytime Fitness.
So within our corporate structure in a years time we have converted 18 people and then their families. Through in people in the gym and that is close to 23 people.
Saving the world one meal at a time.
