there isn’t many reasons this truly can be happening other than you aren’t eating enough at your last meal or it is a brain game issue we can’t ‘be inside your noggin’ kinda thing on hunger habits ya know.

we do know one thing…if one eats enough one isn’t hungry. If one eats enough fat and protein one can ‘stay their’ hunger longer ‘most times, not all am I ever sayin’ here, cause of our ‘time on plan easily comes into play on our chages thru our bodies’…but also reset their hormones and body back to ‘au natural’ and we don’t have ‘naggin’ hunger’ in that form. So if one is ‘needing’ and ‘hitting real hunger’ later there truly can not be that many reasons why ya know…just figure out which one is you in it and the why that fits your life and handle it ya know :slight_smile:

this is when I put myself under scrutiny and realize I have an issue and ‘will then be a work in progress’ to correct it for me. We all gotta walk these steps.

yes I feel for you S on not having that bigger city type markets and availability around you for sure. Your struggles shopping for supplies to hold ya over are tough when I read thru the yrs have your shopping has gone for you. and yes, US carnivores have freezers packed on standby. When a person eats 1 thing…animal only…and might be lucky enough to be able to handle some dairy like cheese, we must have that 1 food product available to us at all times. It isn’t like we walk to the garden and make up a salad from our own dirt gardens LOL, most we can have is some chickens to butcher into the oven or some other livestock we rotate and most of us can’t do that either so…I know being ‘tight on food’ purchases with carnivore is a real deal thing for many!!

I hate chicken thighs. There. Done. Nope. ‘something’ in the taste of that meat now I am not liking and won’t like.
OK enough of that, cause yesterday I inhaled the skin and all fatty parts and basically chopped up the meat for my dog. I could mask it with cajun spice before but plain ol’ chicken thighs ain’t me no more…just not a fan of naked chick thigh taste and to think I inhaled SO many of those things when I changed over to carnivore, lol.

I am going back to just eating. yea. I was ‘on edge’ yesterday just trying to think cut protein but up fat alot more and I kinda went brain dead ‘thinking about my food intake’ and it made me wonky.

so letting me off hook here, just eating what I want but keeping that ‘super tiny’ info in brain, keep fat higher and cut that protein down a tiny bit IF AND WHEN I feel like I can tackle it thru ease in my food days ya know.

I know me. This is 1000% about me only. I know what little it takes to unbalance me about food. I have ‘food issues’ in life and I don’t doubt that one tiny bit cause I sure as heck discovered that about me :wink: so I best just ‘stay even on zc’ and let the plan just change me on its timeline. One reason I say it all the time, just eat, your body will show you the way and for me it is pivotal for this long term lifestyle.

I love reading how everyone is changing and doing for them :slight_smile: but for me I gotta keep my brain outta that game :partying_face:

Support you guys all the way, find your own carnivore that works best and never a darn thing wrong with that. We have a very smart group of carnivores here for sure, ones that can progress individually as needed so rock on!!!

today I got a NY Strip steak I gotta use since it is defrosted and I have my brain on sardines again, yup will eat a tin and other food, I do have 2 nice smaller pork chops to ‘lay in good butter amt’ when frying and enjoy so day is covered as I need it to be.

and I bought those pks of bacon and have 0 desire to eat them…well yet HAHA cause ya know I WILL when I wanna inhale them :sunny:

Oh I know the reason, stupid lean turkey, some boring eggs and almost nothing else does that to me. I won’t have this problem with my pork chuck roast I have just fried - but didn’t eat as I am quite satiated right now. It’s only 3pm, it happens.
Smaller meals don’t help either but I can do little about that, sometimes I get this annoyingly quick satiation on carnivore and I don’t want to overdo my super fatty items I don’t even HAVE now. I so will grab some dry sausage on Saturday. I don’t really need my processed meat for fun or vatiety but a fatty bite still can come handy when my main meat isn’t fatty enough. Or when I just need a wee bit extra, maybe? I definitely don’[t work in a “just eat some more meat” type of way, I can get bored of my lovely pork while still being quite hungry. Okay, if I have nothing else (just eggs) and wait a bit, I won’t stay hungry (probably. it’s not like I tested it, I always have other options) but it’s not as enjoyable as I like.

I don’t think it’s mental even if my midnight eating has traditions at this point. Whenever I eat well during the day, I CAN’T eat at night (without force, at least). It’s an absurd idea then.
If I try to find my limits or have supply problems, I can’t avoid such days. My goal is to avoid it on other days.

Oh, freezer… We surely won’t buy a separate one for reasons but maybe it’s time to start to search for a new fridge… Ours are almost the biggest simple one but the freezer part is small. Today’s big fridges have bigger ones. And they do the defrosting themselves somehow so it won’t be 10% ice in no time… I open the door very often as I get out stuff…

But it’s not really a problem - as long as we don’t need to postpone our city shopping OR it’s not together with lawyer meeting so we actually have time and more importantly, mental energy to go to multiple shops (and we didn’t even buy much meat in the only one we visited).
And I could be a bit less optimistic and challenge lover when I decide on buying meat locally… And frying it… Earlier actions can save me. “Oh I have this and that, I surely can pull it off for 1-2 more days” isn’t the right attitude.

So it’s actually on me. I try to be more careful in the future. I actually am better when I am more determined but September, that already started poor… Not like it should matter but it does. Momentum helps! It would take more than a weak moment to mess up some long streak of carnivore(-ish)!

Just let it go Fangy.
Trust your own taste buts and eat what you feel like eating, don’t over think it.

You need energy, fat will taste better
You need protein, chicken and fish will taste better.

I just ate a shank, the skin tasted fantastic, guess there was something there that I needed.

I just go with the flow withing the bounderies of the plan.

Lately I feel great, guess its the raw meat, it brings me closer to Nature.

Ahhhhh @carnivoor2 you HAVE NO how your post helped me. to have more pronounced stable time on this lifestyle that ‘suits us who are there’ cause in full truth…everyone…it is WHO WE ARE NOW WITH TIME ON THIS PLAN and I gotta remember always that!!

You have SO found YOU on carnivore thru your big work travels and I see you just doing YOU so well!! More power forward! You chime in with the best advice when I needed it and thanks again Vic doing just that for me :heart:

I find myself wanting to be ‘part of the group’ in some way when some require change and me, I still feel damn insecure…and again I say this is a me thing BUT YOU brought me back to my zc reality as it has it must be for me.

I am ‘going towards’ raw more easily also but I find me limiting me on it. Like ‘should’ I go there? when I feel like it has to be more ‘cooked’ thru stupid old issues about ‘cooking meats’ and more. OK me work in progress.

You know I cooked bacon for my kid and I ONLY love super crispy bacon to taste and she is like, you should eat this fatty bacon not so cooked cause I don’t like it…and I am like I EAT FOR ME ALL THE TIME and she is like, you should change that NOW and I was sayin’ do you. Your life and leave ME out of it, never invade my way of eating that suits me! and yet she ‘didn’t get’ it cause being the DINO I AM thru age I am accepting gender fluidity and don’t judge and trying hard to let that go in this day and yet I am being judged on damn bacon I ADORE to eat HAHA

OK Vic thanks a ton. You are a carnivore that gets it ya know on where we are at and I put your words to truth in my life as I need it. I can’t tell ya how your post helped me alot :100::heart:

I have just tracked and vaguely planned (though I probably will mostly stick to it as my options are extremely restricted). It was more useful than usual, I was afraid I can’t get enough fat tomorrow as I just have… Nothing. No lard (the pork chuck produced none), no butter (maybe I can use 5g, Alvaro said it’s okay), 284g pork chuck, 2 eggs at the moment :smiley: I won’t open my precious mascarpone when I don’t even want to eat that… But it should be fine especially after today, I ate more than expected and probably what I strictly needed. But it took some effort. I had 2 meals, early dinner and normal dinner. It was a bit hard to eat a whole pound of pork (and a little turkey) but I managed it somehow even if had to make mustard sauce and use spice in the very end. I had all the leftover quark and some sponge cakes too.

It’s odd, the pork chuck felt super fatty. IDK if it was really fattier than normal or I got used to leaner food more…

I am VERY stuffed now. Hopefully I will be satiated for a long time.

These what tastes good is probably not working for me, I mean, at all. If I like something, it tastes about as good when hungry as it does stuffed, I just feel a different level of desire towards it (even that isn’t true for carbs and liquids). Being bored of the item or having negative appetite changes it but it has about nothing to do with my hunger or needs. So it’s always so strange to me and I wonder how many people actually feels flavors differently when hungry… If they don’t like the food when satiated, that can be useful… But it still makes more sense to me to feel things the same when they are the same…
For people who have this changing taste, are hunger, appetite and need for fuel strongly correlated too? Mine are barely correlated, they easily can be in the opposite end of the spectrum, it’s so weird even for me and I am living it…

Tomorrow will be simple. Pork, eggs. I don’t have anything else. Optionally I can go off but that isn’t fun anymore. That’s for emergency egg eating. Oh I have tinned fish but that is super boring and needless now. My plan has a 1:1 fat:protein ratio again but that’s eggs and pork chuck for you and it’s perfect for me.

Oh I soooooooooooooooo want a bunch of food in my freezer and fridge again. I only need to survive another day and it shouldn’t be hard with what I have.

Yeaterdays steak and sausages

Today I took the usual chicken pack up to work.
And today I had my Govs meeting and I have now joined the ranks of the unemployed! Mixed emotions, new chapter etc etc

Dinner was one piece of ham while I cooked 2 rump steaks and 2 sausages followed by last 2 sausages in pack which look burnt in photo because they are lol, some cheddar cheese and some mussels.

I dont eat anything that doesn’t taste good it have been dog food or more meat for the others if that was me…you already did your high fat times and still do when you need it…

Id like to make it clear I’m not gagging down anything…the fat for me i.e the butter is tasting great on my meat if it wasn’t thats prob a sign to cut back … I’ve stopped dairy except butter I may go back later but for now I’m just trying this.

I dont really eat much of any chicken lol I can I dont hate it but there is far better meats I do enjoy rather eat a fatty pork country style rib than chicken lol… I got a family pack of thighs will leave for hubby or give to dogs…
Most my meat is still beef or lamb cos that’s where I prefer to be… with occassional pork…

After 9 months on carnivore, here’s my BIG thing: I am never tempted to cheat on carnivore. Has yet to happen. In 9 months.

I started this just as a way to lose weight, but I have actually found the way of eating that simply makes me feel the best I have for decades.

I want to tell the world, but I think it is still so way out there that the listening will be sparse. But, hey, I can tell you lot… you get it!

Went from blinding headache to heart palpitations to atrial fibrillation to two sick days off work due to the chest pain and tiredness aftermath. This is my first heart episode since mid-year COVID, and it was brutal. Weirdly I have been getting a night time fever, like I had with COVID, but no other symptoms. I think the term for revisiting viral illness symptoms is recrudescence. That sick leave meant I could get home to the countryside to recuperate. Being careful to add more salt and back on a clean eating plan. I reckon I messed up my electrolytes and insulin with a holiday weekend of eating on and off plan last week. Everything stabilising now.

This is a Protea flower from a shrub that started flowering while I was away in the city.

Does “Carnivore Rocktober - Steady as a rock - 31 day ZC challenge” start tomorrow?

Mixed emotions I am sure but in the end, embrace all the free time ya got! Happy for you K that you are thru that process and got an answer.

@Azi, oh yea I am sure you are not gagging down anything at all :slight_smile: I know you are making it work very well for you!! Not a doubt about that!! Rock on Azi, you are doing good for yourself!!

I used a few more back in the day but now I use less. I like a sprinkle of my poultry seasoning on my chicken breast, a small amt of a dry rub for pork when I make my ribs. Nothing on steak, I keep that one plain. I do use regular ol’ mayo in tuna when I eat tuna, which is sparse now but every now and then I get a hankering for that little mayo taste. Not much more, I whittled down condiments thru the years just because of taste changes and just didnt need them anymore.

You know guys I ‘do this to myself’ in that I get in my own head literally at times. I think if everyone is eating flipping their zc a bit or doing something this way or that should I be doing it too? Most times I don’t and never worry but then I get these episodes where I fret over it. Over think it and feel like a panic sets in that I need to change me. Feel like there is a ‘new zc’ thing going down and I am being left out LOL but I then get out of that mindset and back to normal. (just a thing that happens to me sometimes) but I read Vic’s post just saying Let it go Fangy and I realized Vic was just so right in such a small sentence :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

OK, I am back to basic simple that I keep on doing. Rocking forward into Carnivore Rocktober will be great for all of us!!!

So today is regular ol’ NY Strip steak. Dinner not sure cause I think hubby said he wanted to order from our fav BBQ joint. So rack of ribs or maybe brisket? I do have burgers for backup at all times so if we don’t order I may just make a big ol’ mini meatloaf for me.

Good ZC times ahead for all!

Of course I must reply despite not being a carnivore. But I have plenty of carnivore-ish days (condiments are one minor reason I prefer this more relaxed term for whatever I have as my default woe, it’s “safer” to me) and thought about such things a lot.

My major condiment is mustard from the beginning (sugar free but it has erythritol). But I use way less than before. It went so well with my boiled eggs and sausages but I eat them less often now. I eat more meat and good meat is fine with salt only. I am a hedonist who likes making great things even better but a pork chuck roast with salt is perfection, it hardly can be improved using the same base ingredient.

But I have quite a few condiments, I just almost never use them (for my own purposes, I put them into Alvaro’s food if that gets better with it). I don’t feel the need. Sometimes when I need to eat but my appetite is horrible, I finish my fried meat with the help of some condiment or spice mix. I did that yesterday, a tiny tex mex spice (not my fav but works sometimes, I was curious and bought it once) and yolk+mustard worked wonderfully.

I am not used to sauces and gravy isn’t a thing here (still don’t know what that thing is like, I only tasted one from a package, that wasn’t so great but surely homemade ones are different, even from each other), my meat is almost never dry so I don’t feel the need to add such things. I probably will use mustard sauce for my hake fish as that is super lean and not very tasty but I like the texture of fish and it’s not bad just lacking, salt isn’t enough.

And I have the “bad condiment level” dishes, eggs in purgatory and stews. Alvaro eats the vast majority of the sauce in the former case and I think we make stews with the tiniest amount of onion in the country (people hating onions and making them improperly i.e. without any don’t count. Hungarian stews come with paprika and onion). But I don’t even eat stew every month nowadays.

@FrankoBear: I don’t comprehend what happened but best wishes and get better!


I did my morning cooking, sometimes I do that. Felt safer. It’s fried pork, my two fav cuts… If I make my especially tempting food fresh before lunch together with Alvaro’s dish (they both need little care and it’s nice to multitask in the kitchen) I may eat them up even without any need… It will be a meaty day so I hardly will overeat or eat too late but still, I want to wait until I appreciate food even more.

I only have a photo of my pork butts as the chuck pieces are uglier and I put them on a plate already containing some not photogenic food (I swiped the fatty/meaty oven tray with a sponge cake, it will be lovely to eat. a tiny bit of that fatty substance found its way into the pan too, it surely helped with coloration…).

I will have a nice day eating wise. I decided I fry all my meat, no matter how cute and useful they are in their little freezer boxes, they were only 600g together… And I plan to focus on it and forget about eggs unless I will need them. My day will be a tad lean but probably okay. But I have a precious little cup of mascarpone for emergencies.

I plan to eat only dinner, it would be nice to get over with the big cemetery talk on the phone first. It should be simple and smooth but it’s still stressful for us. But it will be fine and then I will have my meal more in peace.

I can’t get the hang of sleeping at the right time and for the right duration yet, I need to try harder. I am a bit of a zombie again and even my belly feels strange but not sleeping in my sacred hours (3-6am) can do that to me (it can’t be bad eating or too late eating now).

Oh, sunshine! We had much rain in the last several hours but apparently I don’t need to skip my walk, I would stay a super low energy sleepy zombie that way… I LOVE sunshine except maybe in summer but it’s important even then, it’s just too much and too hot.
I may live in a place without high mountains (sigh), sea (sigh) and proper waterfalls (:sob:) but at least we have lots of sunshine all year round. Once there was 3 weeks of fog but it doesn’t happen every decade. Normally we have frequent rain too so it’s a nice balanced place with 4 seasons (theoretically. sometimes spring doesn’t really happen, it’s so quick but normally it’s there) so it’s fun. And much wind. And way more trees than people (300x? 1000x? in the near vicinity… using a bigger radius it gets way better before it gets a bit worse), it’s wonderful.

Hey grl, just do you. If you’re talking about 80/20 as a new ZC thing, I’ve heard it’s actually original carnivore when carni became “a thing”. Early ZIOH days etc. Lower fat and higher protein came later. If something isn’t going right the advice to eat more meat came later. Then lots of ppl developed a following thanks to social media and all sorts of stuff is being promoted as “this is the way to do it”. Only thing any of us can do is find what foods and in what amounts work well for our particular body. It’s tough when trying to troubleshoot and heal things sometimes. Not like we can go to the medical profession for help with a lot of things. Hell, I read the other day the healthy range for blood glucose in 1960ish was 60-80. Can’t even rely on some of today’s blood testing for help. We get sicker as a society and the values determining what is normal and healthy change. It’s truly messed up.

I started ZIOH when it started on a website :slight_smile: way before it hit facebook and only thing I ever learned from them ever when it all kinda started for me was…eat. just eat any meats/seafood fish and fowl ya love and don’t look back. eat what you can afford and love.

they would never chat percentages or endorse any type of fasting or anything other than just eat. move forward just eating, which literally is my center of my zc.

but you are so right, there never was ‘fancy carnivore’ back in the day LOL there was no try this or that, we just ate meat. with the chats I feel like a zc dino but then again I can never deny how fab I have progressed thru this lifestyle so yea, me get my lil’ ol’ pea brain back into my personal zc mindset…yea that will work :slight_smile: :slight_smile:

thanks for a good chat, it always helps cement me back to me. sometimes I sure need just that!!

Very hungry today, don’t know why, just happens.

I ate 4 steaks for lunch and a whole chicken for dinner. This is somewhat more then usual.

I’m in Spain now. Tomorrow I travel to Belgium. London was cancelled,yay :smiley:

A friend told me the wild oysters are good again after the summer season, so next week is climbing the rocks on the breakwaters to get a bucket of fresh oysters.

Nordsea crabs are also in season, the females are stuffed with red crab meat.
It to mush of a hassle to catch them myself, I can buy them from local fishermen.

Have a good weekend all and dont fall in love with a Vegan, its a trap.

Yep done…“could I please leave my ID card at the gate on the way out” hahaha! This afternoon I went dancing to usual Friday afternoon tea dance. A lovely friend their had passed away this week and his son in law came in and announced the funeral would be Thursday the 13th Oct. I said to Raymond I had told Peter we would do our best to get there and followed that with … “it’s Thurs 13th … I don’t think I am working that day!”

I get 3 months pay in lieu … the Gov said I could either work it or not work it which would I want to do? I said that was a bit of a silly question wasn’t it? He laughed and I said I don’t think I will be in tomorrow! So I have done the dirty deed!

You will never believe it, I thought I may not sleep very well last night with having so many mixed emotions and well here’s how I slept.


Compared to normal sleep over as many years as i can remember

I was actually in deep sleep longer than the time I was awake! I would love to think this will happen again :pray:

So first thing I donned my lumber jacket and sat outside with brew and books… a bit dreary out there but the fresh air is lovely first thing in the morning.

Didn’t have any brunch today just pottered Bout, got an u used cabinet from front room to use as another book case for in the kitchen and fits in really well. 8 was getting fed up with having to stack books on top of the ones in the bookshelf I already have in here. Then went and had a bath and got ready for tea dance. Pottled there and back with no real traffic issues this time and hd a super afternoon. Of course it dawned on me during the afternoon that I hadn’t got fatigued from getting up at silly o’clock and working all morning so already seeing the benefits! :grinning:

Dinner was chicken wings that needed to be used today preceded by last 2 slices of ham and followed by a bit of cheese, 3 rollmops and a few mussels … not the whole tub today! Was going to have 2 rump steaks till I noticed the wings use by date. They were okay, reduced in Company Shop the other day but from now on I do my own. I was able to buy 1kg of fresh wings in lidl at 1.85 so even cheaper than Asda’s 2.03. Bought 2 packs the other day and portion packed this morning and stuck in the freezer with the Asda wings. Plenty to keep me going. Got to rein in the finances from now on! Steaks will wait till tomorrow.
