Amazon. They do same day grocery delivery service. You could probably use any local grocery store that delivers as well. … Or just take an uber into town and buy some frozen patties? Will you have a hotel room with micro fridge or were you planning to use the hotel’s kitchen? I would say check with them directly, as that sounds like an unlikely plan.

If you plan on a delivery I would check in with the hotel even if you’re cooking in your room to be sure they will be able to accommodate you so your beef (probably delivered on dry ice) won’t go bad before you get to refrigerate it.

Thank you so much for this.
There is a frig in the room and a microwave in the lobby.

They don’t have a kitchen.

They will provide hard boiled eggs in the morning but that will be the only protein.

I really am uncomfortable making a fuss!

I do understand, it’s difficult to find proper food on the road! I have just been finding that if I approach people with my dietary needs and I let them figure things out, they’re often more than willing to help.

You could also consider some non-breakfast protein foods that are a bit more portable. Canned tuna, salmon or sardines, jerky, meat sticks and pork rinds (and nuts if you’re ok with some carbs), and even cheese if you don’t put it in checked luggage, can all be purchased ahead of time and eaten without heating or refrigeration.

Great suggestions.
Yes I always take beef jerky and I love sardines but I’ll only have carry on luggage.

There is no grocery store nearby.

The hotel is lovely (and expensive!) but the continental breakfast is so non-carnivore.

With no kitchen, I can sympathize with their not being able to help me.

Uber eats has also been recommended to me.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #67

The “Continental” breakfast may be starches, but surely you can get bacon and eggs for breakfast in the hotel coffee shop.

Or if they don’t have dining facilities, perhaps there is a diner nearby?

You would think…
Hard boiled eggs. Period :frowning:

But it will do.

Very very poor selection there! I usually expect eggs, cheese and some deli meat at least! (Not very much experience with hotel breakfasts and but still some. It was actually bad that hotel breakfasts are so tempting as I couldn’t resist and ate some in the very end despite I don’t like eating breakfast…)
Who can get satiated by carbs?! Surely some people but isn’t it natural to want protein too?

But hard-boiled eggs are still much better than nothing! (For us lucky ones who don’t have problems with eggs. Boiled eggs are my least fav egg dishes but if I don’t eat them often and why would I, it’s a convenient food. Not all alone though, I need some meat with it to call it a meal.)

What place is that that there is no grocery store… But one can pack some very dense meat products, it should help somewhat…

Hotels want to offer short-term, cheap, bliss.
Whites (flour, sugar, breads, potatoes, rice, pasts…) are cheap and they look lovely and smell great.
I’ll do a grocery run when I arrive to stock up on hamburger and sardines.

I would boycott the hotel, and go find a good local cafe who will do you bacon and eggs. That’s what I do if a hotel has a dumb culinary policy.

(KM) #72

One other thought, - and I’m laughing at myself here, why didn’t I think to suggest this before - my daily breakfast is a large cup of coffee with cream plus a scoop of this flavorless protein powder, that’s all I eat sometimes till dinner. It truly has almost no taste and you could probably put it in any beverage. Dissolves completely, no need for a blender. It’s light weight and compact, too. The package shown is available on Amazon, $26 per pound.

I usually either skip breakfast or go out (or maybe pay for breakfast if the hotel has a real restaurant. The main problem with eating out/at a restaurant is it gets pricey, because we just want eggs, cheese, and meat, but all this other carbage usually comes with it.

Let us know what you did.

I note that I don’t eat breakfast normally, but when I’m traveling, I will eat breakfast because I know I can find something to eat.

#74

Will do. I’ll let you know.
I’ll be with others who have a B&B with a kitchen.

So, with the microwave in my hotel, and their kitchen…here’s hoping…

It so true: Restaurants serve small protein portions with huge white (flour bread potatoes rice pasta) portions that go uneaten, and you leave the table poorer and hungry. Where is the joy in that !?

If there are any fast food places nearby you can always order plain hamburgers without the bun. If you order a whole bunch at one time, you can just heat one up for breakfast each morning of your visit.

#76

Thank you. Yes, that is definitely an option.

Hi Bob
All’s well.

Hotel’s hard boiled eggs with butter and cream cheese, hamburger in microwave.

Life is good

Thanks for your help, tips, and encouragement.
