I’ve tried various diets for health and weight lots over the last few years; low fat, paleo, whole 30, autoimmune protocol, keto and now carnivore. Until a month ago the only protein I ate was fish and cheese.
So I’ve done my reading and research and I’m full throttle on carnivore/zero carb for a least a couple of months. What I don’t understand is why is beef viewed as the best source of protein? I’ve no problem eating beef/pork etc. and I’m patiently waiting for my box of steaks from a local farm to arrive. However, I’m keen to eat fish and beef every day as well as either pork, chicken or lamb. I’d presume my split would probably be 1/3 fish, 1/3 beef and 1/3 something else. I live by the sea so good quality fish is always available. But so much I read focuses on beef. I know some people can be allergic to shellfish so I’ll probably avoid that for a while too. Why the focus on beef? Surely other proteins give more variety to the diet??
Also, what about fat? I’m conscious that most fish and chicken is low fat (just means I use more butter or ghee…!) but I do worry that I’m not eating enough fat.
Any thoughts much appreciated!
