Can you point me to a good resource or someone to talk to?

Hi folks. You all have been so kind trying to help me with my Keto issue, but I need a different type of help. I know I’ve mentioned before that I’m throwing ketones according to my Perfect Keto urine strips. I have been doing this for a month and I have not lost any weight. I got all sorts of comments on why that might be happening, and I appreciate them, but they have left me more confused. I need to find a step by step game plan, so either working wi5 a coach or a good book to read that will help me with this. I’m not in what I would call a stall, because that implies to me I lost initially. But I haven’t lost at all. I am exactly the same weight I was a month and a half ago.

I am 48 yrs old
About 5 years ago I tried a Keto diet and I struggled to get into ketosis. I dropped my carbs really low, was eating only creamed cheese I think and started to drop weight quickly. (I know this is bad, I didn’t know that then). I developed full body psoriasis and it was out of control (I believe this is because my minerals dropped dangerously low and I was releasing toxins into my body from the stored fat). I developed a dangerously low b12 level and iron dropped too. It has taken me the 5 years to get back to maybe 75% now. My psoriasis is improving, i have to take b12 injections every 3 days and must supplement iron. I also developed racing heart because my electrolytes were so low and now I have to take a lot of electrolyte supplements to keep it at bay. I believe I have severe absorption issues although this has not been confirmed by my doctor. My doctor does not believe I have a thyroid issue. He does believe I have high inflammation from an unknown cause. I take large amounts of curcumin to bring the inflammation down. I have been doing a more controlled Keto diet this time, now that I know a lot more. I take a good vitamin, electolytes, etc. I am eating green veggies and avocados with my foods.

An example of my day would be
Coffee with hwc and mct or hwc and coconut oil and cacao butter.
Handful of raw spinach with cheese and ranch dressing
Maybe a fat bomb in the middle of the day
Meat with zucchini.

I am staying below 20 grams of carbs a day.

I am trying to understand the following:
Since I have other issues like autoimmune problems, do those have to clear first before I can lose the weight?
Have I just damaged myself too much and I am not going to lose weight unless something else changes? And what is that something else?
I have about 50 lbs to lose, if I am in ketosis shouldn’t I be losing something? Maybe I don’t understand that part, because I thought I should lose something since I’m in ketosis and no longer relying on carbs?
How long should I give this woe to determine if it is effective for me? I feel like it should have done something for me.
I have recently taken photos, so I don’t have prior to the diet photos to compare to yet.
I do not know what steps to take and in what order. I don’t want to go Willy billy trying a million things and not knowing what has worked and what hasn’t.
I would love to know of others that have gone through something similar, where they have plenty of weight to lose, have gotten into ketosis and have not lost anything. Why?

Anyway, thank you for helping me. I really am trying to understand. I just don’t know the right resources to look into. Most talk about a stall after starting to lose weight. But I haven’t seen any directed at not losing weight to begin with.

Again, thank you!

A month is not a long time. Especially with all your other issues right now. Give your body time to heal. Your body’s priority is not to lose weight, it’s to fix everything else that is going on first. Other more talented people can link you to the “are you doing this to lose weight thread” which will help you I think.
I’ve been on the diet 3 weeks. Lost 3 lbs of water weight. I’m not worried about it.
Let your body do what it needs to do, don’t try to mindfully force it.
Look at the non scale victories thread too. Throw the scale away. You are doing a good job and All is well.

There are definately coaches who can help. I don’t know names, but I’m sure someone here can assist.

That being said, what you’re looking for simply doesn’t exist. There is no step by step rule book for Keto. There’s a try this and see if it works for you, and if not, try this. We are all so unique, and everything effects people differently. That’s why you’re getting so many different ideas on what might help you. We’ve all found things that work for us. It’s a process, but you have to sort through it and see what helps you.

Can you eat foods to address vitamin deficiencies? Some of those deficiencies are helped by a diet rich in beef, chicken, sausage, fish etc.

As a example, this is my nutritional profile for the last month at average 71% fat 25% protein:

Yes, I sort of get that. That there isn’t a game plan book, but I’m getting bombarded with ideas and I’m not really sure where to start. I don’t know how this works so it is hard to come up with a plan of action, try this first, then this, etc. how long to wait, etc. I need better direction and I don’t even know where to look for that. I look at some of the podcasts and they don’t seem to pertain to me, or they all pertain to me and I have no idea what the starting point is.

I have dealt with something like this before, for my child, but there was sort of a starting point, then I could read and decide what to do next. Right now I have no starting point. I’m very lost and getting discouraged. I’m not sure if I’m helping myself with this woe or not. Thank you.

I have been working on the nutritional issues for years. My doctor doesn’t really know why it happened to me. I have, in the past, probably eaten more than enough to deal with the nutritional issues, but they were not corrected. As for the b12 I did test positive for pernicious anemia meaning I have antibodies to intrinsic factor, meaning I can not from my GI tract. Hence the shots. Those will be for life probably. But the others like iron and electrolytes seem to only be absorbed it I take larger than normal quantities, suggesting I may have a malabsorption problem across the board.

I hear your frustration!
You are right - getting a good resource specifically to meet your needs makes sense - there are KETO friendly MD’s with whom you could schedule an appointment - listed on line. Or consulting with other professionals. In the hopes of losing weight - you reported that you had taken some severe steps and subsequently suffered consequences. My two cents are --Heal first!!

Try the Intensive Dietary Management program, I think it’s a $40 monthly commitment for online counselling.

This is something I am considering, but I guess I need more reassurance. Yes, I do have a lot of issues (sometimes I feel like my health issues were written by a soap opera writer!) and I want to see if that is really what I need to be focusing on. I have anemia which has left me very exhausted. To the point I was sleeping 18 hours a day. I have greatly improved since taking b12 and iron, but stress and physical activity can easily push me over the edge and I may need to go to bed early 5 nights a month. Also my period causes low iron which will exhaust me. So am I just internally healing, and eventually the weight will drop?

Thank you. I am wondering if this is my issue. I appreciate the feedback

I will look at this thank you. It would be nice to have professional guidance.

That would be the route I would choose. You can try it free first, what you require might be available at that level, but if you want some one on one help there is that option.

WoW - so sorry - you have a lot going on to deal with!
This program isn’t always a success with weight loss -
Look at it this way - if you were 50 lbs lighter and had all your medical concerns you’d still have you medical concerns - your health is a priority - We love KETO here but your situation is complex and deserves more than KETO
Good Luck!

I think adding more offal and organ meats will help with the nutritional issues. Idmprogram is a great resource. Or hook up with Dr Ken Barry

I hear ya, complicated. Sorry you go through that @Mdellaroc
