Calories from cooked meat

#1

I’ve seen all manner of answers from people in different forums about this, wondering what you people think.

I know a lot of you don’t think calories should be counted at all, but for me, if I don’t count, I WILL eat way too much. It will happen, and unless I have a place to tell myself to stop, I will eat all the things. So anyway, question is this. If I cook sausage, does the fat that cook out of the sausage count as the calories listed on the back?

If it were me, I would just go by the package info. I tend to round up, not down to make up for sneaky things I don’t always ‘count’ correctly, like cooking oils, or the exact amount I drizzle on things, or the odd restaurant meal. At the same time, I try not to overthink it.

The calories listed are for as is (raw) unless otherwise specified so if fat renders that you don’t eat then there are fewer calories.

At times I’ve weighed the cooked out fat if it was a lot but I always found that even if it looked like a lot it was not when weighed. Mostly I just eat it!
