Calorie problem

When I keep my carbs low food fills me up fast.

I can eat as little as 1000 calories and feel full.

If I eat a few more carbs to get a hunger response I can eat 1500 or so calories.

I also managed a 22 hour no calorie fast. Not on purpose mind you. I just wasn’t hungry.

My tdee is either 1884 or 2159 depending on the day.

When I was doing cico I had a 1800 calorie a day goal and if I made it I lost weight.

So on keto I’m simply full before I reach my tdee.

I’ve been keto for about 3 weeks. Should I keep on eating till full or should I try to eat a bit more to get closer to tdee.

Most days I eat about 50g of carbs per day.

This week I’ve had several days closer to100g of carbs.

Regardless of the the amount of carbs I’m still below tdee.
Today was an estimated 2159 tdee day.

I had an estimated 1800 calories today
Breakfast 5 Brazil nuts
200 calories

Lunch tortilla wrap with chicken lettuce and ranch dressing. 1/2 oz chips.

Carbs 20g
Calories 550

Dinner peanut butter/jam tortilla
Carbs 10g
Calories 500

Snack butter coffee
Carbs 10g
Calories 300
Small handful nuts
IDK let’s just overestimate at 200 calories

Cool whip and sugar free jello
IDK let’s over estimate at 50 calories

I overestimated on purpose because people tend to underestimate.

That’s about 300 calories below tdee.

Also I frequently see posts where people are told they aren’t eating enough.

Many days I feel like I haven’t eaten enough and low energy but yet I’m not wanting food. Specifically on those days usually I’ve had 1000 or less calories so should I eat anyways.

More fat is how to increase calories, not more carbs. It would be worth tracking properly for a few days rather than guessing, if this is something that really worries you.

When I eat more fat I’m full and eat very little. Then I have no energy.

You’re body hasn’t adapted to using fat as fuel yet, more time is what’s needed. The adaptation process takes several weeks, sometimes months, and during that stage it’s best to keep carbs as low as possible and fats as high as possible it your body won’t know what you’re asking it to do. Too many carbs and it’ll keep trying to use those as fuel rather than learning to use the fat as you want it to.

don’t you think the fast satity means fat adoption and means more efficient body?
I would think that low energy is the one that could indicate non fat adoption or transition period.

thanks

its very easy to fall into the trap of consuming low calories. ultimately if you remain on low calories you will get metabolically adjusted to this amount and you will plateau. i only eat during a 6 hour window and find it very difficult to consume 2200 calories in that time. i would recommend youtubing “fat bombs”.

i have developed my own almond flour ones that are high in fat that give me 500 calories in a small quantity

Thank you Dave. I will look up fat bombs.

Are you trying to lose weight? Is there a reason you’re trying to hit your TDEE? Your BMR is the one you don’t want to dip below. If you’re someone who takes calories into consideration with weight loss, you have to be below TDEE to lose.

Yes I am trying to lose a few (25) pounds.

My main concern is on the day’s I feel full and I’ve had less than 1500 calories. 1522 is my bmr.

Even going by tdee I’ve read it’s healthier to only have a 500 calorie deficit. I get full before that sometimes too.

Last week I noticed lack of energy but didn’t feel hungry. I ate a snack anyway.

On a positive note since starting keto I no longer get hangry.
