Buttermilk - Ideas on using it

(Niko Neko) #1

I drove over to the ‘food web’ …kinda like a food CO-OP, all local farms and ranches. They gave me a half gallon of buttermilk instead of a half gallon of regular milk. I’m not entirely sure what to do with it. Anyone drink, cook with and/or utilize buttermilk?

I’ll google and look up recipes but had to go to the source!

Some people drink it. I’ve never figured out what to do with it. Most of it is used for things like pancakes. Although you can use it for things like blue cheese dressing.

I’ve often thought about drinking it, but have never done so. If you drink it, let us know what you think about it.

Make some ranch dressing out of it.

So far I’ve used 1 cup of the half-gallon. Ranch dressing is a good idea. I’ve been so lazy lately, thinking about freezing it.

Ranch dressing comes in handy. I usually make mine with sour cream, or sour cream and mayo, and “ranchtastic”, an herb mix from a company that sadly went under. Buttermilk would be interesting in it.
