I’m going out to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory with friends for dinner tonight. I’m planning on having the ceasar salad with chicken. Obviously without the crutons. So I’m sneaking small spoonfulls of butter out of my lunchbox to have for lunch to give myself a little more wiggle room on the carbs tonight. Is it safe to eat the low carb cheesecake they have if I split it up over several days? How good is it?
Butter for lunch, Cheesecake factory for dinner
I’m not sure what you mean by “safe.”
Will it kill you?
No.
Will it throw you out of ketosis?
Not if you spread it out over 30 days.
Will it cause you to embark on a downward, carb-fueled spiral, ending in more and more cravings for sweets and indulgences that you rue the day you ever brought that piece of cheesecake home and have to turn back with chagrin and humility to the Ketogenic Forums in six-weeks 10 pounds heavier and full of regret for having indulged unnecessarily?
I don’t know. But, as you can tell from my question, that’s what’d happen to me if I played this dangerous cheesecake game of which you speak…
Short answer: only you can determine if eating cheesecake is “safe” for you…
They make the low carb cheesecake with splenda. I just looked it up again. I forgot it had maltodextrin in it. I guess I’m skipping the cheesecake.
This is very fishy information. 37 total carbs and only 11 net? What sugar alcohol are they using? I bet its Maltitol or xylitol. I would not eat this cheesecake while in ketosis. It probably has some hidden carbs and insulin effect.
There’s other items with more fat… ribeye or steak. Just get them to sub a veggie for the mashed potatoes and you’re good to go! I avoid artificial sweeteners. But it’s a personal preference. Some people tolerate them very well. I’d try a more controlled n=1 experiment to see how you tolerate them if they’re something you want in you diet.
