Bulletproof Tea?

(Georg Link (he/him)) #1

I hear and read about bulletproof coffee. Is there a tea alternative?

(Omar) #2

Depends on the taste

tea with HWC and ginger tastes ok to me.

I’m sure many alternatives! :grinning:

I’ve enjoyed tumeric with coconut oil, butter and heavy cream. You can create whatever appeals…

Some spicy Tea with a splash of cream is awesome. Any reason you want it to be “bulletproof”?

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #5

One of the comments mentioned making a paste with the spices and coconut oil, then adding a scoop to hot milk when you want a cup. Brilliant! I’m going to try that and make a past I can add to HWC and hot water.

Bulletproof coffee --> bulletproof tea. I just use the same word for my search. I’m not sure what “bulletproof” means. I just like the idea of a morning drink that can replacea meal.

The essence of Bulletproof is combining MCT oil and butter into coffee or tea. This is open to every manner of interpretation. Most recipes I’ve seen call for a tablespoon of coconut or MCT oil and a tablespoon of grass fed butter or ghee emulsified into a cup or so of coffee or tea. Be careful if you’re not fat adapted! This has been known to be a great recipe for disaster pants.

It’s not my cup of tea, but to each their own. I prefer full leaded black coffee. And fasting.

Thanks @Ketocago, @Ruina, @MiKetoAF, @Pete_A, @Alpha

I appreciate your insights and suggestions.
I have yet to tried anything yet but will report back once I do.

My wakeup coffee is three full shots of fresh brewed coffee, (real coffee not the weak zero tasting stuff most Americans appear to like/drink) two teaspoons of coconut oil and about a heaped tablespoon of salted butter topped of with heavy cream. I dont need to eat for over 4 hours after that.
I tried unsalted butter but didnt like the taste.
My tea during the day and evenings is just ordinary tea with a good splash of heavy cream (about a heaped teaspoon)
Both drinks are just well stirred the same way I used to stir when they contained sugar. No whisking or blender use.

Thanks for sharing @savarin.

Which tea do you prefer? Black, Green, Chamomile, Peppermint, …?

(Charles Mitchard) #11

just the conventional black leaf tea, Dilma brand extra strong.
I had a tea the other day with milk like I used to and didn’t like the taste any more.

Over the last few days, I drank peppermint tea with coconut oil. I like it as an additional source of fat in the morning. The oil floats on top and I like to sip on it.

I made bulletproof ginger tea last night, I liked it.
I had started to put ginger into my BP coffee as I found it to be a bit bland for my taste. (I live in spicy Thailand and have a LOT of ginger in the garden).
Plenty of recipes for ginger tea but I put two teaspoons of finely chopped ginger into two cups measure of boiling water, added butter and coconut oil, didn’t bother to whip up the mixture… I will make again this afternoon but as well as drinking hot will try cooling it in the fridge first.

Great idea! Thanks for sharing. I put ginger on my shopping list.
