Coffee with cream, 1-2 drops of maple flavor (sugar free) and bacon fat. Sardines later.
Breakfast & Lunch
I was just listening to a Tim Ferriss podcast where he mentions sardines and how Dom D’Agostino turned him on to them. I don’t know when I last sardines. It’s kind of an intense fish flavor, yeah?
It is. Fresh sardines are actually best… they are less fishy and very oily too. Very good fat content. I love them freshly grilled with some squid!
A good way to reduce to fishiness is to mash it with avocado and add some bacon fat.
I’ve had tinned smoked kippers before, and I have a bunch of tinned sardines in my cupboard. Need to incorporate more often. I find it such a satisfying meal. I usually put a bunch of whole grain mustard on them. The avocado trick sounds really good though.
@Donna, I prefer the term bacon nectar, I find it less offensive and a better description of what it is. And I too love it in my coffee. I need to try the maple flavoring. As I used to love drenching my bacon in maple syrup in the days before i saw the light
Oh yeah! Forgot about mustard! That’s a classic.
Definitely try fresh if you can find them. It’s hard here in the Midwest, even close to Chicago. Grilled sardines, fresh not canned, were a childhood staple for me.
I am predictably wanton, sir. I even have a badge from the NYC wench’s guild from 15 years ago.
I love that you can say ‘coffee with bacon grease’ here and nobody bats an eyelid! One day it might be available to order in Starbucks. Lol… I double dare @Brenda to try order it. If enough people ask maybe it will become a thing? By the way I enjoy a coffee with cream cheese in it and a tsp of cacao.
Coffee with bacon fat???
Seriously??? Really???
… How many tablespoons to 8 oz?
I use a TBS of butter 1/2tbs coconut oil 1/2 TBS bacon nectar in my 20 oz tervis, serves as my breakfast and lunch
I just chiseled a heaping tablespoon in a 14 ounce cup, the blended it. Quite filling, actually.
And why not? Coffee was used for thousands of years as a savory food product.
Do you whiz it like BPC? (Thanks for fun Aussie terms, @richard. )
Edit: nevermind, I saw @Donna say she blended.
