Hi! So I’m only doing keto 1.5 weeks I lost 6 pounds. I feel totally great but almost oddly hyper aware crazy energy. Was the sugar in my life that toxic that it made me brain fog and low energy?
Will this feeling stay if I stay strict on my macros bc I like it? I’ve been doing 20 net carbs max
90-100g fat and 30 G protein. I used a random calculator, does this sound right?
Brand new
You’re getting the euphoric effect of super high ketones, Enjoy it because it won’t last sadly! Only way to get that feeling back once you loose it is exogenous ketones, and they’re pricey! It’s addictive alright, I always explain it to people like you popped the Limitless drug! I swear even my sense of smell was way cranked up when I was like that!
30g protein? You’re going to start loosing muscle mass!
You’re eating way too little! One of the common newbie mistakes is to restrict calories. We do it because we’ve all been brain-washed by ‘eat less move more’ nonsense. In the Minnesota Starvation study, 1600 calories per day was consider starvation rations! If you continue to restrict calories you will only succeed in slowing your metabolism. If you continue eating only 30 grams of protein you will soon develop kwashiorkor. If you don’t know what that is, google it. You need to eat at least 70-90 grams of protein to stay healthy and 100-120 will be better. You need to eat enough fat to bring your total caloric intake each day above 1500 calories. That’s a minimum! Don’t be afraid to eat! Keep carbs sub-20 grams per day and everything will be OK. After a few months, you can fine tune your macros. Best wishes.
Hi Kim, Welcome to the forum and Keto! I agree with the others that I think you need to eat more protein. Keep your total carbs <20. I have never had that energy boost–lucky you, but I don’t think it will last. I use the MFP calculator and I think it is important to use one to learn what food really has in it. Carb addiction is very real and toxic to our bodies. Keto is the best WOE that I have found to combat my addiction to sugar and carbs. I love the feeling of not being hungry all of the time! Good luck in your journey and keep us posted with your progress. Ask questions anytime–it will help a lot of people!
Thank you for the advice . I got my protien up to 70 today with a keto protien Shake ! I’m not trying to restrict calories I just don’t want to go to like too high ratio of fat . My net carbs are def no more than 20g, just trying to keep the 75/25 fat / protien scale right . Trying thanks !!! Guess it takes a bit
Thank you for advice ! I’m actually shocked I’m not craving sugar but I do reserve half cup of this Enlightened ice cream which is amazing at the end of the day if I need a sweet fix lol
Tell us a bit more about yourself, like weight, height, age, any health issues, etc. Folks will be able to advise you more specifically. I know figuring out macros is confusing at first. I spent a couple of months when I started keto trying to do so. Generally, it’s preferable to use gram amounts rather than percentages. You will understand why once you’ve been eating keto a few months.
The most important things initially are not the specific fat/protein macros. They are keep carbs sub-20 grams net per day, eat enough protein to stay healthy, and eat enough fat not to feel hungry. A lot of stuff happens when you start keto and you need to keep carbs consistently low and give yourself enough fuel to do it.
It’s very important to eat enough protein. In fact, you probably can not eat too much. How much to eat is based on your body size and weight. Technically, how much lean mass you have. But around 70-100 grams is close enough to start until you can figure it out more precisely.
So your first post and it’s to a recipe thing linked to clickbank for making some $$ huh? We help each other for free here, thanks for playing! Try Reddit maybe!
So I’m 5’4”. Now 165.5 wanting to be 140 goal
I had gastric sleeve about 3 years ago when I ballooned to about 190. Despite exercise it was really weird maybe it was menopause. Bc I’ve never been more than like 170. I’ve always been a runner/gym go-er but much less the past 5 years for multiple reasons. So I can’t eat big meals I fill up quicker than most . Honest I expected gastric sleeve to just drop right down to 130. But I went to like 150 and that’s good but eat poorly and you gain anyway lol. So I’m determined now to just do it. My macro calculator says 89g protien. 1427 calories. 18g net carbs
That’s my story. Loving this way of eating don’t feel deprived in any way !
