Bragging about my awesome son’s shocking success

(Robin) #1

My son Matt is 41, autistic and independent. He lives alone and his world is working (janitor) and eating, especially sweets.
This is him mid May. 215 pounds of love.
Today: 180 pounds of pride. Photo coming soon.

I have cautiously preached keto to him for years. Stressing just the simple basics. Mostly cut out sugar.

Well… He has finally found portion control and has cut out the obvious like coke and chocolate. He’s upped the temp in his apartment cuz he’s no longer running hot, sleeps better, etc etc.

He’s also suddenly committed to keeping his place super clean. He’s so proud of himself. I am over the moon.

Could it possibly be the fact that he has an official girlfriend finally?
Ya think???

Hearty congrats! There’s little that’s more gratifying in life than seeing those we love take better care of themselves through wiser life choices (… especially when we’ve played a hand in their decisions  )

That’s fantastic!

Congrats to your son! He must feel so much better getting healthier like that! I wish him all the best!

Congratulations to Matt, Robin. :slightly_smiling_face: That is an impressively quick weight loss. Sounds like he has really gotten with the program.

No doubt - makes a huge difference. There is a feeling of lightness, of ease, even being “clean.”

Fabulous @robintemplin!! Let him know we are all cheering him on

Can’t wait to see the new pic!

Robin, this is the best thing I’ve read in a while. It’s clear that your son is feeling great and on an upward trajectory. What a great success story!

Thanks everyone. Yes, it has been a quick process for him. Thankfully. Matt is an all-in or all-out kinda guy. Results are needed to keep him in the game. His self esteem is through the roof these days.

You know of course that any advice I handed out originated here first for me.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #10

Never underestimate the power of a good woman! And I mean that seriously.

Congratulations to you and to Matt for his success. :+1:

That is such great news. I know you’re a proud momma.

(Alec) #13

Now THAT’S what I’m talking about, right there… simple motivations, simple advice, simple actions, simple results.

There is nothing quite like motherly love. Outstanding.:clap::clap:

Matt is still losing. Slower, but that’s sustainable in my mind.
He is in no way keto. He still has pasta and bread etc, but much smaller portion sizes. His one hard line in the sand is no sweets or obvious sugar.
No way am I gonna try to pester him to cut out more. I think this is his personal sweet spot.

Yes, having a girlfriend will defo make you clean and tidy. Mrs Pjam goes on a lot about cleanliness … I’m not totally convinced.
But well done Matt. Having Superpowers can give you great focus … sometimes :smirk:

Yesterday at the store…
What a difference!

Wow!!! :dancer::dancer::heart: He looks great! Tell him we said so and to keep at it!!! So healthyyy

I found an old pic of my husband from three years ago with the same starting belly your son had and today its gone just like your son’s. Completely gone.

(Robin) #18

Yes, I’ll tell him. He’ll love that he has a cheering section!

(Robin) #19

Oh, and 176 this morning. :+1:

Brilliant… he looks so good. Please let him know that he now has an Australian Cheer Squad!:clap::clap::clap::clap:

And I know how it feels to lose that weight… he must feel great!
