Bragging about my awesome son’s shocking success

I’ll tell him.
He does feel great. I think he’s most thrilled to not even want to eat more or sugar.

170 this morning. He’s lost the girlfriend (sadly) but kept the motivation.
Super proud of him.

215 to 170 is very impressive! It’s too bad about the girlfriend.

Lost the lbs and lost the girl! … that’s life ‘win some, lose some’ … no hang on that’s not, right Anyway, very impressive. He must feel great :grinning:

He’s looking so good! I hope he keeps going! :hearts:

Matt had some set-backs. Changes in his medication caused a surge of urges and cravings (none healthy mentally or physically) and he got derailed. (His girlfriend disappearing didn’t help.)
Anyway, he started eating sweets again and in 1 week had gained 7 pounds. He still wants to get back on track, so he’s trying to answer his cravings with more food, but low carb. Poor guy is struggling with a lot right now. But I am his biggest supporter and cheering section, so forever optimistic.

I just listened to a podcast about a woman who had/has schizophrenia. She found that keto really helped (I think cured) it. But when she was tapering off her meds, she went too fast and had to go into the hospital.

My daughter has PANS/PANDAS, which is an autoimmune disease which manifests itself as all kinds of mental illnesses. Listening to some of the folks who got their kids cured, usually by courses of antibiotics, they said the hard part was transitioning off the drugs given to them for ADHD, OCD, etc. Supposedly, it takes a long time.

Yeah, it’s a constant balancing act for Matt.
He takes Risperdal for anger control and it helps with unhealthy urges. Plus it increases appetite.
It’s a strong drug.

He went off it so he could lose weight, then suffered all sorts of other consequences. He’s 42 so I try to ‘guide” rather than control. (My own balancing act.)

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #29

Pork rinds, pepperoni, bacon, and if he can tolerate dairy, aged cheese. My sister puts cream cheese on her bacon; I’ve been known to butter my cheese.

I used to snack on almonds, as well, but I got tired of them. And the oxalates started to bother me.
