BP coffee....to eat or not to eat?

#1

I love my BP coffee. I read an article about mistakes newbies make that said don’t drink BPC and eat a meal. No real context or explanation. I get it if fasting but am I missing something else?

I do not know the answer you your question, I do however not drink the BPC I think I am trying to burn my own fat why add extra that is not in a meal.

Without the article it is difficult to comment on why BPC should be skipped.

But, for a newbie (that is keto for weight loss) it is probably better to skip them (along with things like fat bombs).

While trying to lose weight, you don’t want to add extra fat to your diet that your body will use - you want your body to use stored fat. It might be a different story if your BPC replaced your meal but if your BPC still leaves you hungry so you have a breakfast too then, as a newbie trying to lose weight - it will probably not help you progress.

One idea is to become a fat burning machine, get down to your maintenance weight and then see if you can stay there adding back in those sorts of things.

To touch on what Alley stated - One of my favorite lines I have heard about keto and the high fat part is

If you are already high fat, then all you need is low carb.

You want your body to burn it’s own fat, versus the fat you ingest. And truthfully, if you are eating clean keto, your diet is likely to already be less fat intake then before keto. And the fats you are ingesting are healthier.

I love bullet proof coffee, personally. But I drink it for the energy and the appetite suppressing qualities it provides me. The way that I make mine adds about 27 grams of fat to my day, and helps me find ways to introduce healthier fat into my diet. It does not impede my weight loss at all. But I keep my fat macros about 67% of my daily caloric intake (1200 calories on average) , which only amounts to approximately 90 grams of fat a day, pretty low fat intake by keto standards. My basal caloric expenditure without extra activities is roughly 1800 calories a day, more if I exercise and whatnot. So I am burning approximately 200 grams of fat a day. Meaning about 110 grams of fat I burn per day are from stores in my body. One pound of fat equals 454 grams, approximately, therefore, I can burn a pound of my own fat in about 4 days.

Bullet proof coffee serves a great purpose and can help alot of people, myself included. If you are concerned it will add too much fat that you won’t be burning your own, then skip it. Listen to your body, and how it reacts to it.
