Boot camp type regimen and a ketogenic diet?

(John Zercher) #1

I’ve been working out with the Camp Gladiator organization for a few months now and have seen some moderate muscle gain but could not lose fat. Went to the doctor recently and my triglycerides were at 600+ (they’ve been as high as 2400 before.) So, at the recommendation of a couple friends, I decided to get back on a ketogenic diet. Problem I’m running into is that my trainer is recommending it eat upwards of 2600 to 2900 calories each day depending on whether or not I workout.

I stuff myself with proteins and fats, keeping my carbs as low as possible and I’m STILL short 1000-1200 calories each day. I’m still in my first week of the keto diet but am concerned as to whether or not that many calories is realistic. I can easily pack another 1000+ calories of carbs in each day but cutting them out kills that caloric intake.

Any thoughts?

Coconut oil, butter, HWC, etc…

The more HWC you have in a protein shake the more it tastes like ice cream, and at 50 cal per tbsp you get 200 calories for about 1.5 carbs.
Lots of meat can pack on fast, I love pulled pork, you can eat 500 calories of that without trying.

Also you could consider TKD which a lot of people have done with good results.
