Boosting the fats to spur on weight loss

(Brian) #1

I’ve read in a couple of different places that adding a hit of additional fats for a day or two(?) might be a cue for our bodies to go ahead and burn stored fat. So, this morning, I decided that today I would do just that. I’ve been kinda stalled at about the 21 pounds lost area, which is just a tad irritating considering my first goal is at 23 pounds. I understand, stalls are normal. I’m not stressing over it. I just kinda figured, lets try something different. (I have a long way to go, probably another 65 or so pounds. 23 was just my first waypoint/goal along the way.)

For those who have done that, did you notice anything even a little different?

One thing that I noticed was that I seem to have an abundance of energy. Seriously, when I took out the trash, I walked the whole way around the block, I just felt like it. And I noticed that I was walking at a pretty fast clip, something I wouldn’t have done a month ago. I also noticed that I seem to be peeing more than usual today. Unsure if either of those are even related.

I suppose those things could be coincidental. But I thought, maybe, some of you might have noticed little things, too. Maybe?

Just one of those little somethings I wondered about.

Great post. A good reminder of listening to your body. How it feels to walk, how warm you feel, the mental attitude component… keto really does make more and more sense as I go along with it. What other ‘diet’ feels so good and allows you to really be yourself and learn what that is really like. Bravo.

I know I can’t read a whole lot into it, but…

Ate good yesterday. Had an extra avocado just because I could. Had some extra butter just because I could. Ate even a bit more than what I could have to have been completely satisfied. Have not had a BM so I know that wasn’t it. Got on the scale this morning and it’s down 1.2 pounds. How is this possible?!

The only thing I can think of is that maybe adding the extra fat kicked the furnace on again. It’s counter-intuitive. It doesn’t seem like it would or should work that way. Kinda turns everything I’ve been told for 50+ years on it’s head.

Who’d a thunk…

I know it is counter intuitive after years of calorie counting and fat phobia but it does seem to help many people. I wouldn’t suggest pushing way over satiety but the fact that you felt great and have more energy is surely your body’s way of telling you something good? I know Carl Franklin has had great results alternating high feed days with fasting. I have always found a change is the best way to get a flatlining weight loss pattern shifting downwards again.

Thanks, Daisy!

I still struggle with wrapping my mind around some of the things that get talked about here and it is hard to lay aside the things that have been drilled into me about food for the past few decades that just don’t add up anymore.

Glad for the group here! Thanks for letting me be apart.
