Bone Broth - what should I do?

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #1

I have some homemade bone broth. For reasons that I will not go into it is not made fully to the recommendations. Beef bones simmered 20 hours but not baked or roasted before simmering. I strained it and froze the broth in multiple pint containers. There is a layer of fat on top.

I take supplements daily for magnesium and potassium at the recommendation of my cardiologist and PCP. At what length fast should I consider drinking some bone broth and how much? What effect does this have on autophagy?

I want weight loss and insulin control first and foremost. I do want the benefits of autophagy but I can wait till I’ve lost more weight and have BG and insulin control in my deranged body.

Thanks for your advise.

I used to drink bone broth for long fasts (3+ days), but stopped as it made me hungry. You’ll have to try it to see. I now use just black coffee, tea, herbal teas, water, salt. I try to rely on magnesium oil and only go to potassium or magnesium supplements if I get cramps (which I usually don’t, for 4.5 days fasting). I drank a small “cup”, less than 8 ounces.

Bone broth stops autophagy. Any type of protein intake stops autophagy.

I drink it to take my meds on my fasts.

I think I will take the bone broth before I start. My immediate plans are up to 48 hr fasting.
