Blood sugar?

(Jeff Echols) #1

My fasting blood sugar generally runs about 110. I have been doing Keto for several months with very few cheats. I have also incorporated a 5 day fast and intermittent fasting as well. I understand that morning blood sugar can be higher but should I expect my fasting blood sugar go down? This am it was 120. The other morning it was only 87. Lowest in years. I guess I am just wondering how long it may take to beat this insulin resistance and start seeing lower sugar levels. Thanks!

Not sure if there is a stedfast rule. I think it has to do with how long it takes to reverse the damage. My sugar is usually around 100 -109, by my 2nd day of fasting I have seen it at 78, but go up again and BTW I may eat bad one meal in 7 months. I am very strict.

Dr Adam Nally (from Keto Talk) says it takes approximately 18 to 24 months to reverse insulin resistance. But it could take longer. I think I’ve read that @richard is still insulin resistant after years in ketosis.

But don’t worry, your BG will sooner or later go down.
