Blood sugar medication

Has anyone tried both berberine and metformin for blood sugars? What other positive effects do you see and side effects?

Berberine caused me to have weird tingling sensations in the middle of myself back. They got progressively worse as I continued taking berberine. Eventually, that part of my back went numb. Everything resolved within a week of discontinuing then supplement.

Metformin just kills me. One out of the 4 you are supposed to take is enough to leave me on the couch all day. Most people do well with it.

Berberine is rough on the stomach, but it seems to lower BG a little.

I am on Invokana now and it works great. My fasting BG was 130 most days, and this am it was 83. It’s still dropping daily as my insulin resistance resets. At least, I assume that is what’s happening. It is no cake walk as your BG is probably too low until things recalibrate. It’s just a low level keto flu kind of thing. Nothing horrid. My blood pressure dropped a ton. I had to stop my bp meds since I couldn’t see straight. I think any of the SGLT2 meds should be fine. There’s is some risk of DKA but I check my blood levels all the time just to be on the safe side.
