Blood Sugar Levels During 72hr Fast?

(Brian Miller) #1

So I decided to do a 72hr fast and bought a blood sugar meter to see what my numbers look like. The readings somewhat baffle me. They are as follows:
97 - 0hr just before eating dinner
87 - 12hr
76 - 24hr
86 - 36hr
64 - 48hr
83 - 60hr
72 - 72hr Ate meal & snack 76 two hours later.
79 - 84hr Then had breakfast & lunch
76 - 96hr Just before dinner 74 two hours after dinner.

It almost appears there is little to no difference in blood sugar numbers regardless if I eat or fast for three days. I plan on fasting the next 36 hours so I’ll see what, if anything, happens to the readings. I likely also need several baseline readings on multiple days of eating.
Anyone have ideas as to what’s happening?

98 - 108hr After 12 hours of fasting.

Looks like stable blood sugar readings, which means insulin spikes aren’t occurring. This is an outcome of keto and fasting.

I haven’t seen much weight loss the last couple weeks either so I guess I was expecting there to be a greater difference.

Sometimes your body needs to “move furniture around” to rebuild some tissues before doing another massive autophagy event. It happens to me, too. Let your body do it’s thing, and you will eventually see another weightloss dive.

Agreeing wholeheartedly! :+1::+1::+1:

I have experienced this phenomenon and am learning patience and when to shake things up a bit.
