I’ve been loosely tracking my blood ketones over the last few months, both post fast and just doing regular Keto. I’ve NEVER had anything higher than a 0.8, even though I’m losing weight (although it’s slow). Is it possible that my body doesn’t go very deeply into Ketosis to get those high numbers or is something up?
Blood ketones low = just my body?
You are definitely in nutritional ketosis at those levels and if your energy levels are good, then you are getting adequate energy. To reach optimal ketosis you can take a look at this article and see if any of the suggestions help. Also, try to test at different times of the day. The numbers should be highest in the middle of a fast as long as it’s not just after you wake up.
If you have high Blood Sugars that will prohibit ketone production. If you are using pee strips they have a short shelf life.
Don’t obsess or worry about numbers. If you are in nutritional ketosis, and you are, that’s all that matters. The ketone numbers on your blood meter change constantly during the day, up and down. We’re dealing with a very dynamic system that response to changing inputs constantly. If you like bleeding, you’d be better served by measuring glucose rather than ketones.
@CarlKeller I am already doing all that Carl, but I am trying increased protein now…Oh yeah, and I don’t test so I have no way of knowing!
