Blood ketones drop in week 4 of ketosis. No significant diet change

in ketosis for 4 weeks now. for weeks 1-3 my blood ketone levels were above 2 most of the time. and sometimes above 3.

Yesterday was the end of week 4 in ketosis and my blood ketons are now hoveing in hte 0.7 to 1.1 mmol\L Range. I did drink some whiskey 5 days ago and had a really bad hangover for about 36 hours afterward so not sure if that is related.

is a drop in blood ketones normal at around 1 month? blood glucoes is almost always in the 80’s fasted or after a meal.

I wouldn’t worry about it unless you’re looking for a certain therapeutic value. .7 is still in ketosis.

Then don’t worry about it, as you fat adapt your burning more, therefor have less circulating. .7-1.1 is still good numbers.

so when you become fat adapted i heard you start to bypass ketones altogether and muscles start burning fat directly is that true?

Yes and No,
You will generate less(one way of thinking says unless you have excess energy maybe not), certain functions require ketones or find them more preferred than glucose outside of the muscles. If you are in ketosis your body is generating and managing both ketones and glucose.
Your muscles will use fat directly from the blood stream in the original form they are the LCT’s from animal fat. Your liver will still be able to generate ketones with any fat. There is also some speculation that your muscle recharge there glycogen store slowly over time with out in taking carbs via GNG.
