Beginning Fasting

(Phil Gilbert) #1

I’m 36 hours into my first fast, water and black coffee only. My blood ketones just measured at 1.1, Is that ok, or should it be higher?

A lot of the Ketones levels are dependent upon your bodies adaptation to burning fat and how much glucose is in your body. So you need to consider that as you start your fasting adventure.

Drink lots of water.

At the 47 hour mark this morning, about an hour after waking, my blood ketone level was only .9. Is it supposed to drop overnight? At 52 hours now

Don’t worry about the specific values. If you are fasting, any reading between 0.4 and 7 is going to be just fine.

Its normal for Your ketones to very

Also don’t forget electrolytes

Look up dawn affect for reason why your ketones can drop over night and glucose can rise. Otherwise it’s all good. Good luck
