Bean sprouts - label doesn't make sense!

(James Shaw) #1

mung bean sprouts from greenvalleyfood.com (http://www.greenvalleyfood.com/Products/Our-Products/MUNG-BEAN-SPROUTS) show a label that says

total carb 6g
fiber 1g
sugars 7g

HOW? sugar cannot be more than total can it?

Even stranger, these are fresh, raw sprouts.

the canned version we have (https://www.amazon.com/MW-Polar-Foods-Sprouts-14-4-Ounce/dp/B004TEXGXQ/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1462567858&sr=8-1&keywords=mw+polar+bean+sprouts ) shows a label that says:

total carb 4g
fiber 4g
sugar 0g

so the canned version is perfect, the fresh bags are terrible. I’m so confused…

That looks mislabeled to me unless they added sauce or something (don’t see an ingredient list). Further proven by the fact that there shouldn’t be more sugar content than carbs. Nutrition facts for one cup of bean sprouts according to Wikipedia:

unmolested bean sprouts are very healthy and very low carb, They are also very easy to produce at home.
