BCAA drinks

#1

I am new to keto. I am about 2 weeks in. Doing well… color change on the keto sticks. I am wondering if anyone knows if I can have the Stance BCAA complex drink supplement? It says only one carb per serving but I don’t know if there would be another reason that it wouldn’t be keto friendly. Thanks!

Seems like it would be fine, albeit a pretty expensive way to get electrolytes.

I do not believe there is any issues using BCAA’s in general but are you doing it for athletic reasons or because you want to supplement. If its the later you are only getting nill amounts and IF you need them you would be better served by other means typically natural ingestion is recommended(spinach comes to mind) and supplementing salt. You need roughly 150 times more at a minimum (4000-6000mg)

supplementing with BCAAs is pointless. don’t waste your money and avoid a gram of pure sugar in the process

Have you seen any other evidence of that, I have seen some youtube videos with doctors claiming that they are helpful for people who are fasted and exercising. I was thinking about it some myself as part of my upcoming training up take.

I take 3.1.2. for recovery/to avoid soreness and it works great. I literally can feel the difference and regret it if I don’t take it. I have a friend who takes it to prevent fatigue and swears by it as well. Why would someone avoid something that is helpful…

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #9

I have watched lectures by Dr. Attia, Dr. Phinney, and other reliable sorts, in which they advise against BCAA’s, because they interfere with some metabolic process or other if you’re trying to go keto. Sorry not to be more specific, but I’ve watched quite a few hours of lectures and am on my third computer since going keto, so finding the links to verify my vague memory is not going to happen, alas! Anyway, I think that unless you’re trying to build muscle, it’s probably a good idea to stay away from BCAA’s.

Thank you for all the information. I got hooked on this drink when I was training for a marathon (and it tastes great…get sick of plain water). Now I am actually recovering from an injury so my mileage is ridiculously low. Perhaps I will use it sparingly when I do milage increases. I am hoping that keto doesn’t reak havok on my running, I have heard both sides. Anyway, thanks again for the responses.

Is your running or your health gains with keto more important? Keto will likely reduce your ability to do crazy runs until you become fat adapted (average of 6-8 weeks but could be longer) and, you will have to start slow and work up to your old runs. But, after that, keto is great for endurance exercise.

I am starting slow with the runs, so hopefully by the time I get to longer ones I will be fat adapted. What is the best keto electrolyte replacement drink for after workouts? I was under the assumption BCAA drinks were good for after…

 totally mid-read that first sentence.

Ha! I guess I should have stated that better!:rofl:
