Bad blood test after cardiac /stroke episode in Sept :(

#1

I have every disease in Dr Fung book …Totally freaking out after my blood test in AUG . with high calcium and I believe , I had cardiac /stroke /Diabetes episode in Sept :(…I have had high BP for years now without medication ( 152/90 in this test ) , insulin resistance ,…you name it ,( mostly carnivore last 3 years, few bad carbs relapses and yoyo since 2011) , Overweight etc…
I started 5 days fast on water only - my tension in the heart area has gone way , but I am really concerned…Anybody there who beat this thing ? Sorry to ask , i have not stopped reading but its so overwhelming
Open to all suggestions

Keep doing as doctor advises, but consider feeding your body healthy foods… eliminate everything, everything that is remotely processed food, or added sugar. That is just about everything in a box or a bag at the market. Anything that has an expiration date more than a week from when you buy it. Your only destination at the market is the meat, dairy, and produce sections. Everything else is bad.

As far as sugar, read the label, anything with …ose at the end is likely a sugar in disguise. Put it back.

I didn’t figure this out until 55 yo. I had many of your maladies. My health and weight have improved miraculously. I am off all medications for diabetes and high blood pressure.

So happy for you ! Congrats ! I have hope the first time these days after I listened to J Fung , what a genius and great human

Thank you again for taking time to support people like me

Give it time, many months, stay true to eliminating the bad stuff.

I really don’t think so, not by your age. :slightly_smiling_face: :+1: People in their 70s have begun eating ketogenically and gotten very good results. Probably in their 80s, too - I just don’t know any personally.

Lovely, thank you

AFil. Welcome to the community. We will help where we can. You can see by the support posts already. But it sounds to me that you may need a good medical practitioner to work closely with.

I’m writing in a passive tone despite my grammar software admonishing me to be direct.

Where are you on Planet Earth?

I have been listening to the Low Carb MDs and if you are near or can make contact with Dr. Brian Lenzkes, I think that will set you on the right track.

https://lowcarbmdsandiego.com/ - he does do virtual consults.

The reason I suggest Dr. Lenzkes is that he, off the bat, offers hope. He talks about everybody can be helped. And I’m gauging by the worried tone in which you write that you may gain great benefit to that starting point.

Actual medication to lower blood pressure will likely help under the guidance of a doctor. Medications are available to us to help for a period of time while sorting out the other key factors in pursuing a healthier lifestyle. As you find your way, then you can wean off the medication.

I can see you are not a newbie if you have been carnivorish for 3 years with the inevitable coping with carbohydrate eating relapses. That yoyo is a real wrecking ball that many of us have ridden. So, you will find people here who empathise greatly with the history.

You are young and have great capacity for healing, learning and then teaching others.

The fact that you may have had an episode relating to your heart, or was on the stroke spectrum, or was related to possibly poorly a controlled diabetic state means you have the opportunity to respond by prioritising your ongoing health by consulting with a doctor who will prescribe hope, and collect the baseline information to work out a path through your health concerns.

Carivoreish? Just commit to carnivore, you need it. Don’t eat any food with more than one ingredient and if you go off canivore, no carbs.

I can’t believe I just a WOE eating or diet in two sentences. This is easy when you put it in its simplest form.

#14

i believe that, too and i m soo ready for some good changes
Thank you so much

Carnivorish? A few bad relapses? Could you go into greater detail as to what you mean by those?

#16

I was carnivore for more than 3 years …Slipped for several months back 2018 after long trip to Europe. …had another slip this year for 2-3 months.( chocolate mostly )…I had few really bad accidents and pretty lousy several years …I manage to lose initially 40 lbs and later spend in bed almost 6 month , so my weight went up 10 …So my weight was like that till now …The realization is that my insulin resistance is totally out of hand and I have started fasting :frowning: how sad , it took me so many years to figure it out

Hum… carnivore is considered the ultimate in elimination diets. It’s sounds like your slips ups were just blips in the whole scheme of things during the past three years. I can’t imagine that those brief excursions into carb_land would have been enough to completely undo any good carnivore would have done. (Although, I could be wrong.).

It definitely sounds like you need some professional guidance. Dietdoctor.com has a program you can join that provides guidance and advice and they also maintain a list of low carb doctors. They also have a lot of free resources as well, but fee may be worth it for you for all the extras. You may want to check them out.

Thank you , Virginia !I needed to hear this in the middle of the mess I created
I love carnivore and I am staying very close to it now , as I transition to fasting . Have no intention to cheat whatsoever , no cravings for sweets etc . I have made up my mind
The info about the Dietdoctor site is very helpful and I am very grateful for it . I saw the site and I liked it a lot . My plan definitely includes now connecting to the specialists there. I need to hit fasting pretty hard for sure
I am very surprised by the kind respond of members of this chat . Kindly thank you again
Greetings,
Nellie

I don’t think you can find a nicer forum than this one anywhere else. :grinning:
