Back to Keto after 2 months of failed attempt at low fat WFPB

When I was researching diet I had 2 options low fat whole foods plant based or Keto, I chose Keto and lost 30 KGs in 7 months, lent came and it was an option to test WFPB diet, here’s my take: Adherence: Keto was much much easier to adhere to for me, by far, I ate less than 10 pieces of fruit in 7 months, and always maintained less than 50g net carbs, WFPB was a disaster, I was constantly hungry and couldn’t keep the less than 10% fat in most days, I added olive oil to cook, sweet craving went through the roof.
Weigh: I gained 6 KGs in 2 months, it’s not really 6KGs since I went into WFPB after 3 days fast, which depleted my body from water, and my glycogyn stores were totally depleted, I gained 3-4 KGs instantly, and other 2-3 during the 2 months.

Body responses: In Keto, many times I had to suppliment with nuts or butter to complete my daily caloric intake, under WFPB I was insatiable, eating every 2-3 hours and always craving food, it wasn’t fun, focus and concentration was much, much, much better under Keto.

Cost: Beans, lentiles, Potatos, oats, veggies and whole rice are very cheap foods, I estimiate the cost to be at 20% from Keto (I ate organic free range eggs and high quality beef/lamb, olive oil and coconut oil, and imported butter), this is a strong ppoint for people who want to feed big family on a budget.

Fasting: piece of cake on Keto, pipe dream on high carb.

Energy levels: This was my biggest surprise, I had more energy on Keto.

Why like this? My only explanation is that I’m insulin resistant, even though my HBA1C never passed 5, and my FGB was always below 100 before keto, maybe Keto increased my insulin resistance, but I doubut it, I always had wight problems and food craving.

Today I had Bacon and eggs for breakfast, and meat and green salad on holiday lunch, my first meat in 2 months, I still hadn’t ate dairy and I’m excited to be back.

Something similar happened to me. Your story sounds just like mine. Except I live in the inner city and can’t always afford the pricer cuts of meat. But guess what? I can still do keto and keep it affordable, I still reap the benefits. I have reversed my diabetes. So all hail keto.

Fat and protein are filling and tons of carbs aren’t and never will be. Glucose can’t stay in your blood to keep refueling your body through the day but, ketones can. That’s why you can fast and not feel starving on keto.
