Avocado...to freeze or not to freeze?

I tried freezing very ripe avocados in the hope of saving them. Scooped them out bagged them and froze. Once defrosting the whole thing turned to mush…HELP! And brown, I had added some lemon juice in the hope that might help, it didnt.

I chucked that one but still have some frozen and wonder if they are salvagable? Like to make guac usually but unsure if this is possible

I have seen Frozen Avocado in the frozen fruit and vegetable section of the freezer at Costco; but I have never bought any.

I found this online about freezing your own:

I used to buy the big box of single-serving Wholly Guacamole from Sam’s Club…it was way too much for me to use up before expiration date so I popped them in the freezer and they were great when defrosted. Maybe if you will make guac anyways it would be better to make the guac and then freeze, mine never turned brown and I think the only ingredients were avocado, garlic, and lime :slightly_smiling_face:

I buy fresh avocados and open-freeze slices of them - when they’re frozen I bag them up and they don’t stick together. Perfect to chuck into a salad or mixed into my homemade keto granola (which actually I don’t make any more because it led to binging behaviour!).

The slices stay bright green.

The texture when thawed, which it does naturally in just a few moments, is just the same as fresh, but it does take on a very slight flavour of cooked avocado - it’s tolerable (I’m not keen on cooked avocado because of that flavour, but frozen is just about okay in my opinion).

Thanks all I think making the guac and freezing it seems the best option here

Cheers once again, very helpful
