Are we the "very noisy group"?

I found this article disturbing and hope people here will be able to shed some light on the “leading international and Australian experts” who are sounding the alarm on discrimination against grains. I do believe that once we have put sugar in its place, the next hurdle must be about grains.

Are they referring to us in this statement: “unfortunately there is a “very noisy” group trying to convince people to completely cut carbohydrates”.

Hopefully, some day we will be able to KNOW what the best foods are for us as individuals. For now, the evidence is clear that high sugar/high starch is NOT BEST for the majority of us.

Yes, that would be us, among many others. If you check the supporters of the organization that issued that report, I think you will find that they are all grain growers. There’s another thread somewhere around here about all this.

If adopting a LCHF diet led to diabetes, wouldn’t like 99% of this group now have diabetes where they didn’t before? Seriously, the LCHF group would be dropping like flies if it was as unhealthy as the naysayers like to imply. And yet we just keep chugging along, losing weight, lowering our BG numbers and dropping the meds.

Maybe we’re noisy because we’re tired of the crap studies and talking heads telling us that we’re gonna die horrible miserable deaths if we don’t eat carbs. It’s just not true and we get tired of being bullied.

It’s OK, y’all can blame it on the Americans here…we gotcha on this one!

“International Carbohydrate Quality Consortium (ICQC) - a group of about 30 nutrition academics, epidemiologists and scientists” - I got down to this part and knew it was a crock of SHIT!!!.

Some people can eat carbs and suffer no Ill. Clearly I can’t. My hubby can. He eats largely starchy carbs. Bread it delicious and has nutrients if you can tolerant it. Keto works for me, but I miss the fruits, veggies, and yes bread.

I don’t think grain growers have anything to worry about. Keto WOE folks are encouragers, not zealots.

The beleaguered macronutrient has had enough of this indignity.

If you check out their 2017 program - http://carbquality.org/ICQC-Meeting-ROME-2017-Scientific-Program.pdf
The last page of sponsers tells the story - Nestle, Barilla, Abbott, European fruit association etc.

And if I’m part of the ‘noisy’ I am proud to roar a little louder!

I have been following this story because it seemed to come up shortly after I began keto in both the major Sydney newspapers. It is a poorly worded but possibly deliberately to sound generally ominous. The professor quoted has been involved in sugar controversy before http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2014-02-13/errors-force-nutritionists-to-correct-controversial-sugar-paper/5258024
The last post pointed to multinational sponsors supporting these studies and likely pushing for a bit of media attention. I believe they are pre-empting the flood of bad publicity a high carb diet is about to receive in the mainstream

So—apart from the weight loss, the higher HDL, the lower triglycerides, the reversal of Type II diabetes, the improvement of arterial plaque, the removal of fatty liver disease, the lowering of glucose and improvement of insulin response, and the reduction of inflammation and autoimmune issues, what has keto ever done for you?

They are out to disgrace "MD"s who save lives at ZERO cost and go against the grain literally by using the law against them.

Just post everywhere online, tell your friend, co-workers, family “Carbs cause cancer, heart disease, obesity and diabetes” i.e. bad mouth the hell out of carbs and bully back. You cannot ignore it, you have a moral duty to bully back.

I couldn’t help but think about Horton Hears a Who - “We are here! We are here! We are here!”

that noisy group reached my doctor because after I told her I lost weight because of this diet she said she was just at a conference that promoted low carb for lowering blood pressure. she even wants to follow up with my weight loss in march, I don’t have a lot to lose but i want her to see the results with my blood work and bp and weight.

she was concerned i might be hungry. i lol’d and told her not at all, that’s why it works for me.
