Apple Cider Vinegar (organic)

WOW! ACV was recommended to me on this forum over a month ago when I was deep in Ketosis and I honestly cannot get enough of the stuff!

Omelette - on it goes.
Salads - on it goes.
Sliced avocado - on it goes.

You can see the pattern here…

Question: is it possible to have too much ACV on a Keto diet/lifestyle?

Many thanks, Leon.

If you too much, your body will tell you by ejecting it at the other end fairly briskly I understand.
I take a fair bit daily.
A splash (tblsp) in sparkling water with lemon juice 3 or 4 times s day.
And I’ll use 2 or 3 tblsp added to some pickling vinegar from my eggs to make up my avocado salad dressing.
I consume a fair bit of vinegar I suppose daily.
Im not sure on the RDA, but assume my body will let me know if I’m overdoing it.

Good morning Vincent. I’ve found myself filling the cap on the bottle up and drinking it several times after my meal - absolutely love the taste of it, but haven’t done the research on APC as part of a Keto food plan.

I’m guessing it contains zero carbs/sugars?

(Leon C) #4

FYI - this is the one I’m using from Amazon.

(Rob) #5

I was advised to drink it using a straw from a glass mixed with water to avoid the acid in the vinegar eroding the enamel on my teeth. Much as I hate using straws due to plastic waste, I’d like to keep my tooth enamel! I usually rinse the straw and re-use it a number of times.

(Leon C) #6

Hey @MmmBacon - good to hear from you. I agree regarding the straw! Are you aware of the carb count for ACV?

Zero.

(Rob) #8

Zero for the Braggs ACV that I use. I would imagine yours would be the same.

(Rob) #9

Thanks! Will look into getting some.

(Leon C) #10

If that’s the case, I’ll order more and grab those straws too!

(Rob) #11

I get mine from Amazon, but I’ve also seen it in smaller bottles in Morrisons.

Vinegar in all forms, naturally are zero carb. Only way it wouldn’t be is if they add something to it.

(Leon C) #13

Thank you Stan. Was just worried I was consuming too much and wasn’t sure if it was bad for me. First day back on Keto after having a bad few weeks and I read that ACV speeds up Ketosis?

(Stan Brooks) #14

I don’t know anything about vinegar and ketosis. I do know you can consume stupid amounts of the stuff with the only bad outcome being it can play a little heck on digestive system.

This is one of " I was doing this before it was cool things" I have been known to buy a jar of cheap dill pickles just to drink the brine.

(Rob) #15

It contains fat and that’s always a good thing

(Leon C) #16

I don’t feel bad now - two large teaspoons in to 20oz of ice cold water is just glorious.

Every time I consume acv I have migraine however my blood sugar is low and mg ketones will be high but I hate the migraine thing ! Any idea why I have migraine ? Sensivity or detoxing ?

(Leon C) #18

Hmmm that’s a strange one. The brief research I did suggested that ACV is a good cure for headaches and migraines, not the opposite. Do the migraines come every single time you consume ACV?

(Stan Brooks) #19

Detoxing isn’t an actual thing but yeah maybe it just doesn’t agree with you. Maybe try good old fashion white vinegar and see if it makes a difference?

(Rob) #20

Are you taking it with water?
