Anyone else needing to eliminate foods out of their diet?

(Kim) #1

Been having food seperate and then mixed as meals. Writing down on a scale of 1 to 10 how they make my body feel 10 being really good or not a problem and 1 being … Dont eat it again.

Im going to throw out everything from 3, 2, and 1. Only problem is onion, garlic, and oregano are on 2 and 3. Food does not taste good without them. So making sacrifice for those.

Wish i could up load a picture on here. But anyways, am I the only one having to systematically evaluate what i eat? I cant be the only one!

What are some foods you found you just cant tolerate? Or make yourbody feel ill after eating? Maybe there was some crazy keto recipe you tried and almost barfed? Lol idk. Something maybe you didnt know you were allergic to before?
Oh, and What other spices are good on beef besides onion and garlic?

I love oregano on beef, and rosemary.

One keto friendly food I can’t tolerate are shirataki noodles (also known as miracle noodles or konjac noodles). I get severe stomach cramps eating them.

Oh I am intolerant to sooooooo many foods! That’s why I went keto to start with.

All processed foods
Onions
Peppers
Most Dairy
Mushrooms
Chocolate
There’s a ton more, but that’s off the top of my head

I spent a long while determining whether or not avocado kicked off my Oral Allergy Syndrome, only to finally admit that, yes it was. I think it was denial more than anything, because I did enjoy half a slice with salt and pepper there for a while. But if I’m allergic, then body obviously doesn’t want it.

We have that loooong list in common. Lol. I’m sorry you also have this issue but I’m happy im not alone.

Until this past week there hasn’t been any food that would make me ill if I ate it in a modest amount. Maybe that’s my problem, my system is very tolerant.

Of course, now, last week a dozen bad raw oysters and some fatty, week-old brisket made me wretchedly ill. Live and learn, I guess.

Im sorry for you because avocados are tasty and perfect for keto. I ate something the ither day that made my roof of my mouth puffy a swollen in 2 spots. But it was a mixed dish, so i dont know which ingrdient did it.

What is the oral allergy thing?

(Kim) #9

I havent tried them yet. I heard tgey are gross. But i saw some made of spinach at the store and want to try those. They are plant based if i remember right. The pulp of a root?

#10

Some people complain of the smell but that never bothered me. But if you do decide to try them, wash them multiple times and squeeze out the excess liquid before cooking them. Not doing that might cause stomach upsets.

And yes they are made from the konjac root which is a type of yam.

I need to do some sort of planned elimination diet. I’ve been eating greek yoghurt for the first time in months, and it’s not going well. Cheese and butter, on the other hand, are okay. My understanding was there was not much lactose in greek yoghurt, but maybe my body thinks there is.

I know that l should stay away from nuts.
In “moderation” they are OK but l cannot eat them in moredation unfortunately… and when l eat a loooot it feels like a stone in my stomach
Also my beloved cauliflower ( l love cauliflower mash as a faux potato purée) is sometimes giving me a bit of distress so l choose carefully when l have it.

This Xmas after doing home made Bigos ( lot’s of sour craut, mushrooms and different kinds of meat) l wasn’t feeling too “sexy”:laughing::laughing:

I found out, much to my surprise, that I apparently have issues with tomatoes. I think it’s just if they’re uncooked as I seem to be able to use tomato paste without a problem.

Really sucks, because I love fresh tomatoes.

I use spaghetti squash when I’m hankering for something noodle-like.
Different but then again I haven’t eaten real noodles in something like a year and a half so I think they’re pretty good.

Oral Allergy Syndrome is an allergic reaction to the pollens found on raw produce. I’m pretty much allergic to all raw veggies, also apples, pears, peaches, avocados, and apparently durian. It can be cooked out.

#16

I am reacting to a lot but class of foods causing me problems is lectins…avoid totally
That is all pulses (no prob ditching them) and most grains but also meats which are not grass fed are a prob for me these days…so consequently, trying to find out what I can eat these days without reacting badly. Reverse elimination diet, introducing foods one at a time to find out what is causing probs…
Mostly carnivore and fat at present. Pretty boring so food is not an entertainment for me, eating to live.
Process of chipping away and refining.
Takes patience and good professional support imo for people in this boat.

(Kim) #17

Thank you. I looked it up as well. I guess you really cant cook avocado

#18

Haven’t tried that (not even sure you can buy them here in Australia) but I make zucchini noodles whenever a pasta fix is needed.

You can, you can add it to a cream sauce or even oven bake/fry unripe avocados slices to make keto fries

(Kim) #19

Spaghetti squash is a yellow zucchini

I am more tolerant to beef, and dark chicken. Funny because of my other issues i would think red meat would be worse. But i dont tolerate chicken breast or pork as easily. And i found at thanks giving turkey is a no go.
Cheap White fish are out but salmon is ok. Havent tried all the white fish, just the cheapest ones.

Its kind of crazy because before keto i just felt like shit all the time. Especially after eating. But i never knew most of the food i was eating was toxic to me in some form. Thought it was always the hypoglycemia.

Im so happy i chose to change over to keto
