Anyone eat Chaffles Daily?

#1

Greetings all.
My silly question is in the title.
Context: My mother is now trying Keto as she needs to drop some weight for an upcoming surgery. For the most part she is doing well, other than lunches. Historically she is very much simple sandwich lunch gal, and I have found if she is out and about without a lunch plan she is more likely to slip of the eating plan.
So, being that she has had a sandwich for lunch nearly ever day for close to seventy years, I was wondering if cooking up a weeks work of chafffles and putting them in the freezer might be a solution to this problem? That way she could have her easy lunch sandwich, or take one with her even.
Anyone do chaffles on the daily?

Thanks

Hello, yes I make various Chaffles nearly every day. Although I don’t make ahead and freeze them, I have read on here that some do. I believe they said they put a piece of waxed paper between each one before freezing them.

My simplest sandwich is a cheesewich, where I use slices of cheese as the bread. Although it doesn’t work well for hot sandwiches.

For example, my layers might be:

  • Slice of Colby pepper jack cheese
  • Several slices of ham
  • Mustard
  • Onions
  • Horseradish
  • Lettuce
  • Mayo
  • Tomatoes
  • Several slices of turkey
  • Slice of Colby pepper jack cheese

I have frozen chaffles and they are ok. But thinking back to my old bread eating, full time working days, I used to freeze a bunch of sandwiches. Not salad obviously, but ham and mustard and cheese freeze well. There is no reason this can’t be done with chaffles!:slightly_smiling_face:
