Any tortilla that is store bought recommended?

#1

I know I can make some home made version… but I am not wanting to if I don’t have to…

Carb sense seems too high in carbs…

Store bought low carb tortilla that is REALLY legal?

I have been told that Mission brand low carb tortillas are good, at 6net carbs per tortilla. But, I have not yet tried them so cannot tell you from personal experience!! I will recommend Joseph’s pita bread, they are excellent, and very thin so you could definitely use those for anything you would need a tortilla for. Another added plus is they are very affordable!! Hope this helps!!

Wonderful, will check out! Thanks!

I have found one here in Michigan at our local Meijers store…they are called La Tortilla Factory and with the fiber end up being 3 carbs.

I was surprised at how good they were!! 6 net carbs each, and only $2.08 for a package of 6!! It’s a game changer having a good bread option if you ask me. Gonna try making baked pita chips with them next!! Let me know what you think!!!

How do they taste?? Will have to look and see if I can find those at local stores here!!

I prefer Joseph’s Lavash Bread, cut into sandwich-size pieces. Work great as top and bottom for burgers, or wrap-around for hot dogs (no excess, like you would if using a low carb tortilla).

I liked them…but, honestly I am not very fussy. LOL

Joseph’s Pita or cut da carb brand.

We have been buying the Mission brand whole wheat carb balance for ages. Mainly my toddler eats them as a snack, which I definitely prefer to her eating white Wonder bread or goldfish crackers! I probably only eat 1 tortilla per month myself though. I was eating a couple a week in June and this may have contributed to my weight loss plateau at that point. Their macros per one tortilla are:

1.5 g fat
3 g protein
13 g total carbs
9 g fiber
4 g NET carbs

Some people seem to be able to handle the net carbs better than others. I have had cow peas from my garden which are very carby but have a lot of fiber.

I felt bloated the next day so fasted to compensate. If I have a high total carb day (but < 20 net) I try to eat very low carb the next day.

The low carb ones I’ve tried don’t appeal to me. No flavor IMO.

Yeah, some taste like cardboard.

I must have calculated wrong… I thought they were 6 net carbs each… I ended up getting carb sense I think by mission… don’t love them but they are way better than trying to make them! I only ate 1 for dinner… hoping they won’t hurt me too bad…

“Recipe” idea #1 “Chips”: Slice them into 8 ‘wedges’ and deep fry them. Salt them. Enjoy your ‘chips’!

“Recipe” idea #2 “Pizza”: Heat oven to 350F, put tortillas on baking sheet, add low carb sauce, cheese, toppings, bake for 10-15 minutes until browned

Although, I am cautious, as it is a ‘wheat’ product, and may still significantly raise glucose (and therefore insulin) based on some “n=1” blood tests I’ve seen people post. I suspect the ‘fiber’ is lower than stated on the label (meaning, higher net carb count). Search these forums (and the web) for glucose tests after wheat-based “low net carb” breads/bagels/tortillas/etc.

I’ve tried the ones from mission and love them
