Any thoughts on Keto supplements?

I’m new and was thinking of using perfect Keto base. Does anyone know if this is a bad idea or not?

All depends on your motivations for doing keto & your goals.

Dropping and keeping your carbs below 20g and your body will produce lots of ketones for free. No need to take them orally.

Keto Base Exogenous Ketone Supplement is like getting a taxi to the end of a marathon and spraying yourself with sweat! Its adjusting your diet to naturally produce ketones that is key to the ketogenic diet.

Also if you monitor your ketone levels you will not be able to tell if you are eating correctly to produce ketones.

Don’t waste your money! Its a marketing ploy IMHO!

I love this analogy!

You won’t find a lot of love for exo ketones here unless you have a disease or illness that actually benefits from exo.

I’ve always been curious about the subject. What does a sugarburners body do with exogenous ketones? What’s the benefit? Are they even the right kind of ketones? I have heard that there different types, like left and right hand. As in the way the molecule is made. I’m no molecular biologist, but that sounds like it could make it inert in the human body, or worse yet, make it bind to something that it shouldn’t, possibly be cancer causing as well. Or, perhaps just have disgusting (if not comical) effects like Olestra did. iirc Olestra was a fat replacement that could not be digested. Essentially a lubricant shooting strait through the body. Causing a malfunction in the Air/shit seperator, that’s an old Air Force term. :sunglasses:

Thanks for the tips everyone! I just started less than a week ago, and just started tracking my food yesterday. I ordered a blood tester, but it’ll probably take a few weeks to get here so I’m not sure if I’m doing it right.
I’ll be patient and wait and see.
If I could ask everyone one more question, I workout 3x/wk (crossfit). I usually take Vegas pre and post workout drinks on these days however I just realized that’s adding 34g carbs to my day! Does anyone know of a better product to use? I know Vega has a sugar free pre-workout energizer I could try but I haven’t found anything for the post workout that is carb free.
Perhaps I should’ve made this a new thread… but if anyone has any tips on this too, id appreciate it.
Also, I don’t NEED these carbs for working out right?

Water!

You don’t want those stupid carbs. Your workout will be wasted burning through all that rubbish. Its another marketing ploy.

You need zero carbs. All your energy can come from the ketones your body makes.

Talk about a workout… https://youtu.be/_5nzf8Tf-xo

I’ve heard good things about their collagen and MCT powders. They are quite spendy but by all accounts the quality is good. Exogenous ketones - I wouldn’t bother for a number of reasons that you will find discussed on this forum.

Alright, obviously I’m a sucker for marketing ploys:).
Thanks everyone, I’ll keep it simple. Water. Who knew?

Loved the rowing video too, thanks guys!!

Some battle with electrolyte imbalance when starting out on a keto diet. This can be addressed by mixing some salt / lo-salt into some water before working out. Other than that, once you are keto adapted exercise is a dream.

The only good argument I’ve seen for exogenous ketones have been for pro athletes.

I have actually recommended their use to my uncle who has early onset Alzheimer’s. I believe they have really value for therapeutic use in particular but yes also probably athletic performance.
