SO! I am TOTALLY CHUFFED about this. Our friend James (he was one of Wayne’s driving trainers when he first started driving trucks, and we followed him to our current company) REALLY needs keto, and I’ve been poking him to change his diet, especially since Wayne has been keto (10-12 weeks). He was giving me a hard time and somewhat negative about it, until he started hearing Kevin Rutherford talk about it on the Sirius-XM trucker’s channel. He has gradually cut most of the carbs from his diet and has asked me a TON of questions in the last few weeks. Today, he posted the following progress bullets on FaceBook (most of it, some I got via phone call) accomplished in 8 weeks between doctor visits:
Weight: lost 42 pounds
BP: from ~160/104 to 128/78
A1C: 8.2 to 6.2 (note he was low-carb only 8 weeks of the 12)
He still doesn’t consider himself “keto,” but I’m happy he’s seen the light about reducing carbs. I think the better he feels, the more committed he will become. I feel like I saved a life!
