@Fangs thanks for suggestions. I have tried sleep tapes/cds nothing helps. I used to listen to a cd by Paul Mckenna from his book ā€˜I can make you thin.’ Not sure it made me thinner though did make me mindful of what I was eating but when ever I listened to the cd I had the best and deepest 30 mins sleep ever! :rofl: I supposed 8 could listen to that when I can’t drop off but he brings you out of that deep state and you then feel wide awake lol. I need the ā€˜i can make you sleep’ tape :sleeping::sleeping::sleeping::sleeping:

On that note an even crappie night last night! :roll_eyes:

Took the same old same old food to work. Got chatting to another colleague on way out today but only half hour late getting off home this time.

Made 2 beefburgers while pork belly in oven slow cooking. Then ate them all plus the last roll mop herring from the pot and 1 from the dill rollmops pot. Followed by mussels and cockles.


In bed now and off to sleep soon hopefully. Feeling so exhausted my eyes ache 🄱

Skein… I have learned a new word! (Or not, I am not sure I will remember it).
BUT I learned another thing: Alvaro had no idea what ā€œyarnā€ means. Wow. I know that since forever and he uses English a lot too, since decades. Not as much as I, though…

Meanwhile I had my tiny dinner (a quite lean peace of pork can be wonderfully balanced out with cheese and a little pork belly) and reached my minimum protein without eating a ton and I feel quite good :slight_smile:
Why can’t I do this every day? It was chill and easy and nice, I even had lunch…

I really do love etymology and the study of language and words. English is very tricky. Yarn is a good example. It means both the fabric/material but also can mean a tale or a story. So when someone is ā€œspinning a yarnā€ they might mean they’re telling a story, not actually making something out of yarn. This is why I always give people who learn English as a second language the benefit of the doubt and admire anyone who tries to learn it….They’re there learning their English and sometimes it’s too hard for them to know which of two words to use!

I usually think it’s pretty much impossible to learn many languages well - as I would need SEVERAL decades for English alone and it still wouldn’t be good enough.
There are big words. There are so many slangs and it’s not just British English… I am learning Australian slang to some extent but it’s really impossible to fully learn a language.
I don’t know a lot of slang in Hungarian!
And I can write walls of text about the hardships of learning a language. I look up a word, fine, all the zillion meanings… But I can’t just use it so easily without actually seeing when and how it should be used, there are nuances… Not like we don’t have the same with our own language sometimes… People don’t even mean the same thing when they use a word. It’s so complicated. And living languages do their own things and change. When I look up a word, the archaic meaning is often different.

But I LOVE languages, they are awesome. Even their problematic points. I always loved the hardest things in Hungarian (except where it meets my weakness. when to separate a word, when to use a hyphen… it often makes not much sense and even my gut feeling doesn’t help while it totally does when it comes to other mysterious things where thinking doesn’t help) and Hungarian Grammar contests were a lovely way to spend my time. Not as much fun as doing maths (logic things, mostly. where you don’t need learning but it’s pure fun) but almost.

English is my third language chronologically but the one of the two most important now and my second best (that’s very obvious). I learned German before English and it felt closer to me and I learned quickly (despite the stupid gendered nouns). I only did a middle level national exam in(?) German. But never really used it afterwards.

I dislike gendered anything, by the way. You have it so bad with gender pronouns especially with this modern political correct snowflake world (and I understand being outside of gender binary as I am there too, I just have the easiest one and it shouldn’t matter to others, it’s a personal thing. I mean when people really overcomplicate things and totally demand normal people who doesn’t even CARE about gender to use the ā€œcorrectā€ ones even if they change all the time. okay, it was in a fanfic but still, it probably reflects the thinking of the creator).
Whenever I feel lost in that, I am so, so happy that we don’t have a separate she and he, we use the same word for a person. Russian is interesting as I must reveal my own gender if I talk about myself in past tense. (Oh sorry, English is my 4th language chronologically but I forgot I had anything to do with Russian. I had the most language classes in(?) Russian by FAR. I don’t know anything except a few fragments.)
And German is quite ridiculously fun sometimes when natural and grammar genders are in conflict :smiley:


Sigh. Of course I ate again. I have a new hypothesis: I just want more meat now and 120g protein and a decent amount of fat just isn’t enough. I had another high-meat day in the end, 740g (I have just inhaled 255g pork for my 3rd meal, it was wonderful). Not the first such one in the last days. Of course it’s possible that I just need more food now and as my egg and often my dairy intake is low, of course it translates to more meat but I still have that hunch… And anyway, I never need this much food regularly. Except the month when I suddenly needed +1000 kcal every day ages ago, that was odd…

So I totally changed my somewhat complex plan for tomorrow where I use various items and just go and eat pork chuck roast galore. I don’t know if I have enough but I won’t be shy. It’s lean enough as it turned out, not too much, not too little. (But too lean isn’t a problem macro wise as I ridiculously easily add a lot of fat. I must fight against other fat sources if I depend on chuck but who needs other items when they have their fav stuff? :smiley: Or we will see.)

I wanted to try simple anyway.

Yarn in Australia means to tell a story or have a conversation.

I’m back at home in the countryside since last night. Some ex-students had a film screening in a major regional film festival at a town about 50 clicks south of home. They won the animation short film prize. We got photos taken on the red carpet. Lucky I have been eating low carb carnivore. So, I didn’t look like a total unhealthy mess. I wasn’t ready for the red carpet appearance.

August is finishing. How about … I know this won’t get the nod … a ZC and sleep theme for September, Zero Carb Sleeptember?

@Shinita I enjoyed your chat about languages, so interesting. I had a few opportunities to go the language route for my career but only really studied Spanish as my second language, plus picked up a little German on a couple trips there, first one when I was 6 and lived there awhile. Linguists are fascinating people.
So I’m extruding that Yarnivore is a restaurant where people knit and tell stories and lose so much weight they develop extra ā€œskein.ā€ Thanks, and y’all are hilarious!
We went to San Antonio today to pick up a battery for one of our amps, but ended up shopping at a Western wear store where I got some fancy Western boots and hubby got a new outfit. I’m just now able to wear shoes comfortably - at my heavier weight my feet are such a big round mess. These have heels and feel extremely comfortable even so. I’m looking forward to wearing them for playing country music gigs and even a few regular gigs!


We went to a restaurant we used to frequent when Mom was in the nursing home in San Antonio, knew their Thursday special was a tritip steak. This worked well. We both got this special and hubby gave me part of his steak (!) in exchange for my 2 sides and my frozen dessert.

I got to keep the cookie part to take to church, they love those and always eat them up.
There was some bbq sauce on his steak but they left it off of mine which was very nice of them. I rubbed off most of the sauce but it was nasty tasting anyway. Then this huge bowl of dark chocolate ice cream comes out with 2 spoons and I tasted it! It was very dark and not too sweet and just half a spoonful, and darn if hubby didn’t scarf down all the rest! Made short work of the extra sides too. I was proud of him :slight_smile: Well, i didn’t think I’d go face down in that ice cream but ordered a cup of coffee, which came with non dairy creamer!! So I drank it black and it was real good. I’ve ordered a small thermos to carry some HWC along when we go out in case I get coffee. Even half and half isn’t worth it.

After that we stopped at a grocery store different from the one we usually go to, in a different town, and I got lots of good meat. Steaks and shrimp and grassfed beef and a whole chicken. We are not having a repeat of this past week when a couple days in a row, food wasn’t up to snuff!

Rising prices. Ouch. My cheapest ground beef source just raised their price from $10 a kilo to $15. Buying pork shoulder roasts from my local supermarket is the cheapest meat here at $8 a kilo. I cut the meat off the bone then slice it and slow fry it until it is caramelized. Amazing!!!

Just doing a raw food shop for Grace. Maybe I’ll end up doing my shopping there too! lol

@MeganNZ Dogs love green tripe! How does Grace do with that mix? Do you blend it with other things or feed it straight?
Mimsy loves organs of course but I give her small amounts like a treat because she’s small and it gives her the runs. I dehydrate at low temps to keep them raw and feed as treats. Also add bone meal since I’ve never gotten her to chew raw bones. I found a source of good bone meal at Natural Dog (US) - not sure whether my health food bone meal was as good for her. It was definitely cheaper!
I always love hearing about feeding raw for dogs! Loved reading your post.

Well I tried on some clothes the other day and I’m still gaining weight nothing I tried fit…so since going carnivore for me its just continual weight gain its keeps on going up… but its seems to be all around the middle…

So my plan for next month is take the plunge into the Dr boz protocol which is high fat mod protein meals
Get back into ketosis and see what happens she uses blood glucose and ketones to adress inuslin resistance and pull down blood glucose…
I hadn’t tried her method because I always thought she was a keto dr but seems alot of carnivores are now turning to her as well.

Her plan is 4 ounces of protein per meal then eat fat to satiety …she suggests using goat dairy instead of
cow dairy as they are higher in med chain tryclycerides…

Some ppl are eating up to 4 meals per day so it’s not low protein or low calorie just smaller protein amounts at a time…
I dont do well on low fat protein so thats not an option and I want to continue with simple meals

Seems alot of ppl are now trying her proticol with sucess if they haven’t been losing…
It’s also seems similar to Judy cho protein macro of 0.8… so time will tell…
I really like carnivore so I gotta keep adjusting til I find what’s going ti work for me.

Milk is ok. Most zc people drop it cause it does have higher lactose but some still use it. It is not forbidden…it is a personal call to use some if ya do well on it tho. So if you like it a bit, then use it a bit if you do good on it, enjoy it and helps you plan your meal day a bit.

If you feel this way then what you are doing now, just letting natural changes in your food intake suit you and just go with the flow as you evolve more towards your goals should keep you in good form. yea alot of things take alot of time for big changes :slight_smile:

I also get irked when my food for a few days is UGH, below par. It some how brings out that GRRRRAnimal in ya that says, nope, I want better than this crap so it sounds like from that shop you are going to eat very well.

----------keeping today very simple again.
having 2 nice thick pork chops and then having either burger or chicken as 2nd meal.

I function best on super easy, super simple. Must always keep my mind right there :wink:

Yeah Dr C is still my Dr and he likes Dr boz he suggested to me to follow her way back when i started seeing him and also Judy cho and funny enough he always checks for ketones in blood and urine but mine don’t usually show.any…

I need to set up another appointment I fact I should do that.ok i just did that…but he so busy next appointment is now in december…

Yeah I started gaining when Dr C first had me up fat to cut back on protein.that was like 2nd month after seeing him that was 5lbs
Then even more when he changed me over to psmf…I was constantly eating

Then when I went to nebraska I gained even more (prob the most)…every time I gain I can drop a couple pounds then it comes straight back…and grab more

The couple of times i have stepped back to keto adding nuts and or seeds prob don’t help i agree …but its not something i stay doing long cos I prefer just meat…
When I do add something it’s been pork rinds
greek yogurt… Or something…or a pinch of cheese I just barely stray…

But I’ll take dairy out…try getting back into ketosis and go from there i guess…

I try not to bring it up often one because most ppl don’t have that issue here and I really have no clue how to reverse it i lost my weight on keto…but that was micro managing everything calories included …I dont want to do that again

yea super feel you here. We can’t go back into that ā€˜dieting nightmare of control’ cause there is a point where the brain just can’t handle it :exploding_head: I know I hit that also!!!

OK…think this…your body when starting is NOT your body now or your lifestyle eating on the road etc. IS NOT your life now.

everything changes. yet we feel like we have to ā€˜be right there’ in how our carnivore effects us and controls us but if the apple cart is upsetted, we get wonky. I can say one thing L in that I have been there, understand it very clearly.

yes dump dairy. smart move in only that you now require ā€˜clean carnivore’ and you need to eat all you must NOW and don’t limit, restrict or deny you anything on clean carnivore…cause this is what resets you and brings ya back and re-aligns the body.

you ā€˜tried things’ thru Dr C and others and got results thru xyz and abc but that is NOT YOU NOW.

Your body is in flux in that it wants reset again and reset can change us in alot of ways, as in what we do eating on the road and more…so we ā€˜kinda’ get in our own way just living life :wink: but damn isn’t that what ALL of us do…live life as we got it facing us? darn right we do.

Best recommendation for you is back to total basics on carnivore. Let the body ā€˜reset’ again…I know you lost, gained, but in the end if you give it ā€˜basics’ it will again repair/heal, change hormones AND WILL RESET FOR YOU but time is involved.

You might gain a tad more but it can’t last, it will then change it all over and let loose again and drop those gained lbs and it will take ya back to where you were :slight_smile:

my personal focus, as I only say this AS ME, cause I been thru it!!, is keep that faith that what you eating in carnivore will adjust you…it will…back to bare basics is key and I know it worked for me everytime I got off. I got off a few times for sure thru the yrs. :wink: but I also knew one thing…the basics of this plan work, felt it, been there, know it but when wonky life kicks in we can’t ā€˜grab that magic diet bullet’ cause it won’t help…we need absolute basics again.

simple word. basic. basic zc plan. eat it and all things are ok, well, they were for me when I wrapped my head around those all encompassing life changes that hit me thru the years.

I only ever wish you the best and know you are truly one step from hanging in there and being ok…you got that spunk and that forward thought of how do I correct? and this was me too!!

but sometimes that forward thought on correct is ohmygosh the easiest yet we never see it…go back. basics. start over clean and fresh and new like a newbie :slight_smile: yea very hard for me to learn that when all I thought is what is off? what is wrong? how can this little bit of?

simple basic.
how we come into this plan and how SOME of us must live it for our control and healing to happen.

just words to think about, ways to find you in what I also went thru and ways to just find you more in it all ya know.

one thing I type ALL the type is SIMPLE is best for me and darn if that ain’t the truth I learned thru 5 yrs on this lifestyle. When I walk an off path thru not so simple like eating on the road on vacay or I find me wanting stuff thru bites of this or that and ā€˜feel me just’ waning from how good I was I default back. Past times dieting can be left behind but past times on HOW darn great we felt on plan should not be ignored so maybe I know I find my best way. Simple. Clean. Easy and I thrive, throw too much into that mix I gotta struggle in alot of ways.

AGAIN JUST CHAT here :slight_smile: and all I think you can see is go back to massive basics! Be drawn right here cause I think you are.

I always remember my ā€˜best days and months’ and how I felt superior on this lifestyle and I was SO in that zone and I know what it took to get me there and I know what my eating was to suit me best!

when in doubt find your best feeling backward on plan and just do it again :slight_smile:

was only gonna cook 2 then I thought, forget that, cook 4, probably eat 2 and 2 for whenever life says to eat them…not an issue I have handling in my daily eating but I think I still wanna go with chick/burger but that is my call…2 nice chops ready and willing to go tomorrow in the fridge is how I roll.
