I was just doing exactly the same xD One pigeon dude was just happily munching away on some elderberries, and in swoops another out of nowhere and knocks him out of the tree. They’re a bit nuts.
Angus August Carnivore
Aren’t they just, they make me laugh watching them . They come and sit of the fence and another one joins them and then hops along after them pecking at them. Funny birds x
I only had some quiche and a little pork this far. And some coffees with a little milk. Cream is better but has its disadvantages. I totally should quit coffee to solve these problems.
I made a small microwave quiche because the amount and availability of the oven called for that. Not nearly as pretty as the muffin mold one but similarly good. The sausage slices made it too salty again… Sigh. Maybe I should use my own sausage for this. It starts to get a problem, me and my intolerance to normal amount of sodium in food.
I packed food for our tiny holiday. We probably only will go for 3 days, half of it will be travelling. First day: a walk and chat with my aunt Second day: probably beach! It’s the second biggest river of Hungary so it couldn’t go dry yet… Third day: zoo! So even with long travels, will can have enough fun and new things to experience. And we use the motorway so we will be pretty quick (though Alvaro surely will drive way below the speed limit. we have a tiny car, it already uses much gas going at 90km/h… he hardly even used 100+ km/h with his strong motorbike… I was so bored and annoyed despite MY tiny bike started to eat like crazy at 130km/h - if it could reach it. without bad wind, it could, it was its top speed
and it so easily got it that sometimes I just left the village on the first pretty spring day, had a few lovely moments - and then realized that I should keep my enthusiasm in check. so, I hated motorways with a bike, almost never did that, boring and I close my eyes and then I had to stop and buy energy drinks as even those are better than dying on a bike…)
Oh I don’t even cry anymore. It’s sad though, we still have our bikes but after not using them for many years, only paying for them, we finally took off the licence plates and did whatever it is called… So they are just objects now, taking up space in the cellar and in front of the house. It is not impossible to undo that but the one waiting under the sky since several years probably sustained injuries. It wasn’t perfect to begin with.
Motorbikes are so expensive, sometimes I wonder it was worth it. Maybe not every ride. Like when we went one of those visiting zillion places of the country competitions and there was rain most of the time, my max speed became 90 km/h in the only road with 110km/h speed limit… And I had a tiny accident. That just wasn’t fun. And I don’t even have sooo many memories. And I went too slow most of the time so I disappointed myself. But there were nice things as well.
I will roast a decent sized pork chuck slab soon My aunt says there will be chicken. The lovely, high-quality, very well made chicken as usual, I hope. I like that, it just never worked alone. But with my pork it will be perfect.
[…]
I ate my leftover pork except a single piece (perfect for a modest day), I froze it.
I made my pork chuck… And the cats caught some small bird again. sigh
And I saw a dead jay on my not very refreshing walk (the sun went down but these are hot days. there will be almost 40C in the next days somewhere in the country and not much less elsewhere). There are tons of jays here so it’s not a rare sight. We very often hear them too. And see as they aren’t shy I love them, so fabulous, not just any bird have such fabulous blue feathers! Our kingfishers are even much more bright blue but they are more elusive and surely much more rare.

I will bring a tiny meat with me but I could fit only the 3 lil pieces into my box. 604g fried pork chuck, it’s not so bad and there will be chicken and I bring some sausage and cheese and butter and 11 sponge cake muffins too. I will try to survive without many eggs but maybe we can buy some? I definitely didn’t want to bring boiled ones.
2000 kcal pork, nope, I bring a bigger piece in another box, after all. But try to eat little tomorrow, that will be the chicken dinner day and I ate well today (I just stuffed myself now at midnight, I have such a stupid day. But all my meals were pretty small today so maybe it’s okay.)
I go for no coffee and lunch skipping.
I’ll be back in 3 days! If not, I burned, melted and evaporated in the sun. I try to be in water or shadow if possible though.
Back in the city. Possible new carnivore foods option has opened on campus. Will check it out today. Rainy days persist.
, love it. Only 1 carnivore portion
I love when the include packets to add if you want to add instead of already putting on the icky sugar sauces directly onto the meats! Score!! Fab pics as usual!!
My lidl is far away but we do have an Aldi close by and that is their motto also, we have it, buy it, things come as they come so grab while ya can, lol.
@Shinita tht sounds like a wonderful trip, beach/water to enjoy, visit family and zoo…yea I think you should have a blast! Safe travels!!
@FrankoBear, NOW that is exciting! Anything new to help you hold zc and eat well and happy is a good thing! Can’t wait to hear if it really is great options for you!
We have been in 3 days of rainy now. Took our high warm hot temps away which I don’t enjoy tho!
-----------------------keeping it super simple. woke up very not hungry. feel very content, very calm on plan, just no hankering for the big meats right now, so I got 1 can of tuna and a tin of sardines as first meal…it is calling my name but I do have a ribeye steak, 1 lb. ready for later cause the fish won’t hold me so when hungry and ready to inhale again, ribeye to the rescue!
2 weeks for back to school. Kiddo is senior in high school and final year of this stuff. Hooray. have to go clothes shopping for a few things she wants, then we got hair appts for cuts for me and her, then she will probably color her hair some strange color as usual, and she needs some other things we will get. 1 yr then college!! She is wanting to fly and I am ready to let her fly
Enjoy your zc day all!
@Fangs congrats on kiddo’s senior year and all the preparations! Very exciting year. You’re such a good mom to be ready to let her fly!
You’re welcome to send some of that endless rain our way. The storms here always stop just south of us these days. Our water tanks are still pretty full but we do have a pretty nasty draught going on. I’ll wait by the mailbox for the rain you send
@Shinita Enjoy that great trip! 3 days is a good amount of time to get away. I guess your cats can survive it that long and you don’t even need care for them, just somebody to come in and fill their bowls. Enjoy the beach and zoo!
I’m so happy for carnivore energy right now, my other plate is so full I can’t begin… of course that includes time spent with hubby - an hour here and an hour there and pretty soon you’re talking about some real time
So, in addition to the smallest task, transposing the hymnbook as chords from a second and sometimes third key were added over the notes in the hymnbook. Writing them out in my computer to read on Sundays, making setlists (easy) and running thru them on guitar (not my instrument!). Prepping music for students and teaching. Toastmasters - back burner for now! I’m VP Membership this year but won’t be doing much with it. Then the new gigs, prepping music and practicing for those strolling gigs on weekends. Country gigs, and then we’re writing a new pop and country book for our group as our contractor made clear that we can’t use the 250 arrangements hubby already wrote…
And I do worry about the puppy left here so much of the time
So we shop on Thursdays. Every other day of the week, workdays.
So - simple times foodwise, yesterday shank steaks from sous vide which were great, and they have that bonus marrow bone embedded, which hubby doesn’t partake in, so more for me!
Eggs and sausage yesterday evening.
Popped a pork shoulder roast in the Instant Pot lastnight and it’s done. Had to sample it, so good! Just salt. Was thinking of a little pepper but na, don’t think it needs it.
I never plan for that evening “snack” but just eat whatever when it’s time. Seems to work.
In September we will start having 2 gigs on Saturdays - 2-5 and 8-11! I happened to think, what will we eat?? Maybe pack a sandwich for him and just something or other for me. It would be real human of them to offer us a seafood dinner before we play but no expectation of that… those dinners are like $150.
Coffee this morning in my “new” antique cup
And I forgot to mention I ate my steak cold with all that gooey aspic still on it!
so I vented and I took it down
I tell ya writing stuff out helps but in the end, alot of things right themselves in my mind and then it is like, omgosh take down that rant/vent HA
It’s good to vent!
Carly barks at the postman every day, because the c*nt has the temerity to deliver parcels to us! Some people!
Yes, vent all you want. It’s easy to look logically and say, “I’ll do me,” but it does still hurt when you see your loved ones making choices you wish they wouldn’t.
Sending hugs your way.
@Fangs you vent all you want, we’re here for the good, the bad and the downright f’ugly, thats what makes this carni group what it is, total support through the good and the hard times. We laugh with each other and we cry with each other and we all certainly vent with each other at times. Thing is we stay strong with our common ground … zc… it is that control over one aspect of our life that has spiralled out of control on so many occasions in the past. Carni brings clarity of mind which we all need to get through the turmoil and murk. I will keep you in my prayers and will also pray for you to have buckets full of patience and
@JJFiddle whoaw I thought I used to have a busy life !!! I’m surprised you manage to squeeze in time for you …ever! Loving the cup n saucer, I love colour and I can see you do to but I am sorry, cup n saucer for tea and mugs for coffee haha😆 I have a beautiful bright orange cup n saucer which is on the sideboard in my lounge complementing 2 very orange vases. I will take a piccy tomorrow (I’m in bed now).
Well the rain that was forecast for 4am finally arrived at 3pm and it threw it down … no need to water garden today yay. It is forecast on and off the next few days and into the weekend.
Stinky wakeful night again so I have taken 2 herbal sleepers tonight with work tomorrow.
Brunch 11.30 2 cold pork chops, one thick and one thin. 45min chat with stroke psychologist then off outta find some books in charity l9cal shops… bought 4.
Came home and cooked buffalo chick wings followed by 2 chilli n cheese sausages and half a packet of cold water prawns.
Nipped out to lidl for some more of those fab sausages and got some reduced, plus a thick grass-fed ribeye reduced and reduced brisket cos you all keep showing pics of brisket and it looks yummy. Returned home and finished off packet of prawns.
Early night.
Oh and I had the rib juice n fat heated as a drink
I take it Carly is a human and not a pet running on natural instinct?
hmmmm…heehee
@VirginiaEdie, yea I got ‘right with it’ til I ain’t right with it again
ugh
@Karen18, trying to find buckets of patience and I am and know I am one of THE most impatient people on the planet, work in progress to change that a bit!
--------------whew off my rant…I tell ya guys, SOME DARN DAYS!
I tell ya guys, a calm, great easy day with a phone call or this or that can turn a day upside down real fast.
But venting out helps a ton and I got my last nerve under control now and forward I shall go
today is easy zc. meat and more meat. I think just a few burgers are in my sights with maybe chicken.
I just have to say over and over, some days! some days! some days! and then let it go and forget about it all
OK, on to a better day for this ol’ carnivore!
What about, ’ Sizzling Sirloin September.’?
…scurries on back to the keto thread at double time…
I love Sizzling Sirloin September!!
Well, I expected reactions from that pork but got none! Maybe the ole bod’s starting to get it…
So got gravy on my bow yesterday, have to take it to San Antonio this morning to get it rehaired. Unexpected day trip, but taking the puppy and it should be fun to all go, we haven’t been to SA in quite a while. Then we have to go back Friday and pick it up so I’ll have it for the gig that evening.
So today, already had our coffee and will have pork when we return around 1 probably. This evening, the roadhouse to play. I usually stick mostly to mineral water while we’re there. Funny that beer and mineral water cost the same for musicians - $2. That’s one defense for getting an IPA on tap toward the end of the evening.
When we get home tonight I’ll probably have an egg and piece of sausage.
@Karen18 re that cup: I’m always thrilled my coffee and HWC fit in that cup. I use a Nespresso machine and almost always a grand lungo which is a 5 oz coffee. That cute cup is a recent (pricey) acquisition from the local thrift shop and fits with my Fiestaware conglomeration of pieces. Yellow, so cheery too!
Beef ribs 2 nights in a row. I don’t know the name of the cut. But they are large single ribs. Mineral water to drink. I might be over caffeinating at work to keep the lecture performance factor going. Grasping young minds is like trying to catch smoke. I feel like some eggs and bacon are needed again soon. At the wrong end of campus to check out the new food outlet. Back over that other side tomorrow. We have the largest geographical area campus in the country.
Here’s my orange cup, it has a bit of purple on the handle and purple saucer with design (charity shop as were the glass vases though not bought at same time)
Yep @coopdawg sizzling sirloin September sounds good to me too
Not a whole lot of sleep last night as it was still too flippin hot in the bedroom. Even felt like going and sleeping outside where it was cooler but the thought of those rattles nibbling my toes put me off the idea!
Up early for work and had reasonable day … no pressure. I came to the conclusion that Fridays pressure was put on me by me and nobody else, I am my own worst enemy!
Today I stormed through 115 risk calls and when I left work at 2.15pm there were none left pending… that’ll change by tomorrow but for today I felt a great satisfaction and achievement lol
Brunch took me an hour and a half to eat even though it was my normal work pack up as 8 was right in the flow of those calls. Sliced cooked chick reheated with butter.
Home and ate 3 chilli n cheese sausages with 2 dirty fried duck eggs. Followed by 5 thin slices of topside spread with butter and flipped over to make a sandwich. Then cooked and ate the remaining 3 sausages! Dodnt want them going off as they were price reduced… any excuse!
Back in bed for early start again.
Ain’t it always the way!
Love your orange cup and vases! So delicate. I agree, I wouldn’t drink coffee from that cup either.
Wednesday morning I put a frozen chicken in sous vide for a 9 hour bath. Then we drove into San Antonio to take my bow for rehairing, took the puppy along and came right home, got home about 12 to fix lunch - defrosted a bag of the slow cooked pork shoulder and heated up some gravy, along with hubby’s sides. Oh and 2 eggs deviled. Then took a nap while he went out on the deck and put together a cabinet for the potting and grilling supplies. When I woke up the rest of that pork and gravy were still on the table so I finished them!
We went to the roadhouse about 5 to play. I drank beer there and got a little tummy ache from it. Came home about 9, took out the chicken, iced and bagged it, ate a wing and some of the white meat.
Got to bed about 10:30 and slept about 3 hours before waking with a foot cramp about half an hour ago. I settled here on the couch and looked up Axis IPA to find that out has about 20g carbs… No wonder the tummy ache. So I think I’m done with that. My body doesn’t need that anymore.
