Amusing Trouble at the Airport

(John B) #1

The family and I just got back from a trip to Disney World! When we went through security, I was asked to take my belt off. Now I had already reached my goal weight a while back, and had purchased some new jeans. But, I have dropped another inch since then, and need the belt. My pants don’t fall down, but the droop a little bit, and my shirt covers it so no biggie. Then, I get into that scanner, where they have me hold my hands above my head, and every time the security agents tell me “pull your pants up.” I do, but when I hold my hands above my head, they droop down again. So, I have to stick out my tummy in order to keep them up so I can get through security! This happened on each flight, going to and from Florida

My jeans clean fall off me now without a belt and I have to fly in a week or so…With a belt I have to bunch them up in the front under the buckle.

I’m really looking forward to this situation now! /s

Belt off / Pants up / Body scan - You can have any two of those three only!

This just made me laugh so hard and I needed that. Thanks!

Too funny, love it!

Suspenders? Or does security have a thing against them too?

I am cracking up laughing - knowing that I am flying out in a month, but only for a couple of days and it will be from possibly very cold weather to very warm weather. I see a trip to my favorite thrift store just prior to my trip as anything worn in warm weather has already fallen and has been given away.

I am planning on taking a stash of single serve envelopes of Knox unflavored gelatin and a stash of individual packets of coconut oil. I finally the latter online - they are expensive, but I figure they will travel well, get through security, and rescue me should I get stranded in an airport and also from my wonderful, but heavy carb vegetarian granddaughter whom I am going to see.

Oh, while I’m here I might as well toss in my 2 cents worth. A year ago my FBG was above 300. (T2D on medications!). With a change of medical care providers and determination on my part, I have lost almost 40 lbs on KETO since July, 2017, down 4-5 dress sizes, I am no longer pumpkin shaped, doc has had to cut down on blood pressure medicine to 1/4 of what I was taking to keep me off the floor. While my FBG and BG still are roller coasters (steroids from the eye doctor did not help!), my FBG is running from 84-123. Besides Berberine, and vitamins the doc wants me on, I am taking no diabetes meds. I saw her Wed. of this week- she doesn’t want to see me for a year!!! Neither did the eye surgeon (6 eye surgeries since July, 2016-Spring of 2017.) I can safely drive, read, use the computer, thread a needle, feel my feet, and also feel the lancets for testing BG. Them little rascals hurt - even though I could not feel them before!

I’m still in happy dance mode!

Haven’t had any issues with pants falling off, but I have gotten stopped a couple of times for further inspection due to the container of pink salt I had in my carry-on.

That scares me, too!

I have TSA Pre-Check, so I don’t usually have to go through the irradiating nudeoscope. However, I still get “randomly” selected from time to time.

Since I don’t feel those machines are particularly safe (at least based on what I’ve read), I always opt out if I can. You can do this in the US, but other countries don’t always allow it (e.g. Australia).

Last time that happened, I had to hold up my pants while the guy patted me down.

Clearly, I need to get some smaller pants. Waiting for post-Christmas sales. :stuck_out_tongue:

While they make me nervous too, the first time I opted out (I am used to traveling with small children so usually do not have to go through it) the pat down they gave me was so intimate that I have had relationships that were less close! So now I travel alone so infrequently that I ignore the risk. It’s like the flu shot, I never take one but if I worked in a hospital and had to walk around in a mask all winter I would take one.

H has a belt that he got from one of those travel stores made by Ex Officio I think that is not metal so he usually does not remove it although sometimes they may anyway

The buckles I am guessing would be a problem.
