Am I fat adapted

(Adriana Raines) #1

I’ve been on Keto for a month. I have lots of energy and work out heavy 6 times a week. My carbs are 20-30 net. Technically if I wasn’t fat adapted I should not have so much energy, however, I am hungry a lot and not losing weight.

Help!

How much protein/fat are you eating?

(Adriana Raines) #3

80 grams. I’m 5’6" 150 pounds 21%body fat and weight train

I’m also having a hard time reaching my fat intake goal. That may explain the hunger ugh

#5

Less protein, more fat. How did you calculate your need for 80g protein?

#6

If you’re training heavy that often you might be hungry. Also you could eat .8-1.0g per pound of lbm. Protien is satiating.

Per KILO of LBM. She’s eating too much protein already. Fat is satiating.

#8

Strongly disagree. She needs the ketogains macro calculator for lifters. At her lbm and lifting frequency she could easily eat 120g’s.

Keep in mind that heavy, strenuous lifting can increase cortisol which can cause water retention which can fool people into thinking they’re stalling. Lyle McDonald has some great posts on this.

So I should increase protein intake and make sure I meet fat goals?

#12

Use the link above to play with the numbers. For lifters protein is sacred and will not kick you out of ketosis. If anything increasing protein will help with body composition. I’d eat 100g’s if I were you and adjust fat to create the deficit % you want based on your goals. Ketogains is a great resource.

The protein numbers you get are just starting points, you should do some self experimenting to find out what works best for you. It could be 60g or it could be 120g. It could also be that you’re not getting enough calories and that’s why you’re hungry.

You’re also not very heavy, seem to be fit and active and don’t have particularly high bf% for a woman (assuming that’s what you are). You shouldn’t expect quick results and a month really isn’t long enough to tell if there’s a problem at this point.

Thank you so much. Yes I am a 52 year old female bodybuilder. I will adjust the protein and see how body responds. Thank you so much for your advice.
